Again this forum has helped so much and I would like to contribute with our journey, hoping it might help other that are looking for similar situations and outcomes!! All the best guys :p

  • Good Luck, I found it a relief after head in a spin and the fear it brought up, especially the court which looking back was the easiest bit as I never saw a judge, just the lovely lady who took my application and cash, checked it and came back with the stamped BR paper. :)
A telephone call with the OR, sending off the paperwork and it all went uphill from there.

I agree about the help on this forum, the people are incredible and I could not have managed without them. :A

Thank you lovelifeagain........... This forum sure is great!
  • Just a little update! We received an email each today asking us (me and my husband) to sign into our bankruptcy online with original log in details.
So we each logged on and there was a green message stating "your bankruptcy application has been approved" with two messages in a letter that we had to read which just stated what would happen next! Like the OR contacting us within two weeks!!!......... allnpricessing very quickly!.... I was shaking when I logged in and I am still nervous but so glad it's nearly all done!!!!

    Hi,

Many people come back on here months, years later, and say that going Bankrupt was the best thing they ever did.

You can only go over the same old ground so many times, you have realized things had to change, and you've done it now, so congratulations, i only wish others who struggle on regardless could make positive decisions as you have done.

  • Hi - congrats on pressing the button. I myself posted a very similar thing after I had submitted, it felt like such a massive move. I wish I'd done it earlier and wish I hadn't been so afraid. It's onwards and upwards for us all x

Thank you guys!.......... being feeling different all day! :-) Not in a bad way, just weird way.....

It's probably the unknown!.........with the added waiting game I suppose!..... worriedmama that quote "onwards and upwards for us all" hit the nail on the head! Hope things continue smoothly for you! :-)

  • Hi guys another update!..........
Official receiver called me and my husband on Monday 14th November at 9am and asked if we could do the interview (one each) there and then but advised they would be separate and in private! It wasn't possible at the time so we arranged for him to call at 2pm on 14th November and hubbys on 16th November at 9am........
I had my interview and he was absolutely lovely and very understanding! He asked questions about my gambling and gave me advice on how to go forward from here (no more gambling) he went through some of the debts, to see how there came about and said he needed to speak with his boss regarding any penalty! He also said after speaking with my husband he would call me back! He was more like a councillor :-) not scarey at all

My hubby had his call and he pretty much praised him for doing what he has done and understands how hard it must have been (taking on 3 children and neglecting his debts to pay for them) and (forgiving me about gambling)...... he said there didn't seem to be any money left over for an IPA (but needed to confirm this with his boss) .........again he was lovely and very understanding! We are assuming he will still get a NT IPA till April. But nothing mentioned on this as of yet!

I received that call back on Thursday 17th November and he said he was glad to tell me that there will be no penalty for my gambling as he couldn't find any credit taken out towards gambling (as I used my wages) so I was getting off lightly and he said those words "lightly and I should consider myself very lucky" he also said no IPA on current figures for me and hubby and we probably won't hear from him again! He wished us all the best and gave more advice on how to manage finances.....Such a genuine guy!........ He asked us to send back the questionnaire and proof requested within 7 days (we sent in 12 month bank statements and 3 month wages slips) .......... and that was that! What a relief!!!

I did however have one hiccup!..... tax credits stopped my current money for this years award to pay off for an overpayment included in the bankruptcy! I called them and told them I am bankrupt and so is my husband but they said they would not reinstate my weekly payments until they had heard for the official receiver :-( (I was previously paying them back in installments before I went BR but stopped about 6 weeks ago)
I called the official receiver who said he would be informing my creditors very soon and I could send them a copy of mine and Hubby's bankruptcy order and that should sort it all out! I have written to hmrc with copies of the bankruptcy and asking them to cancel the overpayment repayments and reinstate my money as I can't live with out it! I am currently waiting a reply, so we will see...........
That's it for now and will keep you posted xxxxxxxxx
  • Just to add we also get to keep the car worth £975 as hubby uses it for work and we have 5 children! Which is amazing could it would have been near impossible with out it xx

Congratulations and I'm so glad its going well. I just submitted mine as well. Hoping I have as nice an OR as you!
  • I found being honest was the easiest way! The OR was not bothered in the slightest about what I had done but more just wanted to understand where the money went, dates and figures...... he was not judgemental at all :-)
Good luck, I am sure your OR will be just the same xxxx
