Amount Claimed £3110.00 + £120.00 Court Fees
Amount Paid £3110.00 + £120.00 Court Fees!
After two months of letters and rejecting feeble offers going backwards and forwards I have finally reached the end of my crusade! The Halifax made two offers eventually, one for £460.00 and another for £1060. On receipt of the final offer I issued court proceedings and the Halifax settled in full two days later.
I am now searching my records for other monies owed to me.

Halifax bank
claimed for unfair bank charges when sons account was overdrawn often just for 1 day the charges were always £35.00 even though he has a regular income payed in every 28 days by his employer (he is an apprentice)
the bank offered six months payment of £297.00
he accepted as without this site we would have not known we could claim anything
Many many thanks0 -

In some cases the bank have written back saying they require £10 per statement - this is not true under the Data Protection Act they have to provide all the information for a MAXIMUM fee of £10 !!!.......hope this is useful.....Dave
i have already done that but they gave me the standard 'microfishe' answer - no-one from the bank will contact me despite 6 phone calls, what can i do?0 -

Hi,
I'm new and this is the first time i have posted, however i have been reading/lurking for a while. I've successfully claimed my bank charges back from Natwest. I wrote the inital letter as set out in the templates, i got a standard reply saying they needed to locate my records, i then (within the 14 days, got a reply saying they were willing to repay me £914 (i originally claimed for £952) as long as i signed to say i wouldn't be claiming again. The money was transfered to my account as a goodwill refund within 3 days. I'm really chuffed and its only thanks to this site i got my money back. I'm also going to open a current account as mines basic and has no overdraft, so that i dont get caught up with these £38 charges for unpaid direct debits the whole time.0 -

Bank: Halifax
Amount Claimed: £185.00 over two accounts
Amount Paid: £185.00
Story: Sent Initial Letter, got standard reply saying they will look into the matter. Sent 2nd Letter, received letter offering partial refund. I replied saying that "as a gesture of goodwill" I would give them 7 more days to offer full refund, or i would start legal action. Received an offer of full refund 10 days later, didn't need to start action. Money was paid into account yesterday.
The important thing is to use the forums at consumer action group, follow the process and be very careful to get the letters in the right order. Don't try and short circuit the process and you will be fine.

Hi,
Just wanted to say that reading all your stories have egged me ojn to apply for my charges back!!!
Its a bit scarey initially but i have taken the bull by the horns and sent letters to First Direct and to Royal Bank of Scotland so lets see how we get on.
Will keep you posted
Quick update.........(15/10/2006)
First direct have returned my £10 cheque and are sending statements by courier for no charge!
RBS however have cashed the £10 chheque. Statements arrived via post. I have a rough calculation that they owe me well in excess of £4300!!!!!! I cant believe it! Thats my money!
So ok, now onto the next step. will update you soon.0 -
Hi, This is my first post!
First Direct
£230 claimed £230 paid
I wrote to First Direct and asked for all my statements so I could count up the charges. They sent the statements by DHL within 2 days. I was very impressed! I counted up £230.00 worth of charges all and all.
I wrote the letter and asked for the £230 to be refunded and also asked for a response within 14 days. The replied within a week and said they would pay all my money back if I signed a document and post it back to them. I am over the moon as I didn't think it would be that easy!!
Thanks to Martin's appearance on GMTV!!!!!:rotfl:0
