Hi Daveb69
I have just sent off for 180.00 to Capital One requesting it back - charged for late payments and going over limit - I was under the impression that they are only offering 8.00 so giving keeping 12 of every 20 they have charged - did they offer you this first ? also ... GE Money had a loan off them for windows and been charged 12.50 final reminder payment letters approx 8 times and about 4 x 30.00 final reminder letters would I be entitled to claim that backor is it different for a loan ? (I have paid it all off now )0 -
Hi I was offered around a 50% refund by Capital One, but I stuck to my guns and got the whole amount refunded. Not sure if loans are different, but I would assume the principal is the same - they can only charge you a reasonable amount to cover their costs...sorry i can't be more specific, but hope this helpsLovingitifitsabargain wrote:Hi Daveb69

Hi there go to http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk and register its FREE, then use the link below to get all the info you need regarding getting details from your bank about all the charges that have been put on your account.
http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/516-1-data-protection-act.html
In some cases the bank have written back saying they require £10 per statement - this is not true under the Data Protection Act they have to provide all the information for a MAXIMUM fee of £10 !!!.......hope this is useful.....Dave0 -
Bank: Halifax
Amount Reclaimed: £1905 charges + £415.85 Interest +£120 Court FeeAmount they paid: £2440.85
The story: Thank you so much MSE and CAG. Following your guidance I requested my bank charges back, got as far a registering a claim in court, within 3 days Halifax had settled in full. I would encourage everyone to do the same, it was quite simple and I am the sort who never wins anything, so was nervous about trying. GO FOR IT :j0 -
Well done you, great stuff.0
