Last year I got:
200 mins, 400 texts, unlimited O2 to O2 calls, £150 credit, £15 pm discount (on £25 pm tariff = £10 pm), on an 18 month contract (with no phone).
Am in the last month of this contract so just phoned retentions now and got offered exactly what’s on the O2 website, no discount at all - with or without the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.
So the fun begins again…
Four calls to the retentions team with no luck at all, they weren't budging an inch. Have therefore gone for the 12 month Simplicity 10 and will buy the phone I want elsewhere. This still works out far cheaper than getting the phone through O2 on an 18 or 24! month contract.
Another contract is up in a months time...0 -
I got offered the following deal from Retentions, last week which I took up:
- Iphone 16GB 3G RECONDITIONED
- 600 minutes
- Unlimited texts
- Unlimited Internet
- Unlimited Wi-fi
Cost - £24 per month.
I'm not sure if it's a good deal though. I didn't want an iPhone but this was the best deal for any handset that they could offer me (I wanted to reduce my tariff to the £20 mark).
The phone is "reconditioned" which basically means that a customer has returned it within a few days. It's then sent to Apple where they remove the scratches etc. The phone looks brand new btw.
The Customer advisor told me to sell the phone on Ebay if I didn't want it! I am thinking of selling it and purchasing a different brand.0 -

Just for info.
Note the circled section of the upgrade screen I went through. Wasn’t sure about this so I emailed O2 CS as got the following reply:Thanks for your email enquiring about Unlimited data + Wi-Fi Bolt On.Obviously haven’t got the latest bill yet but this looks like a good deal to me. Hope this helps someone.
Unlimited data allows you to browse unlimited internet and the
unlimited WiFi a gives you free WiFi access. As this is a combined Bolt
On you get both these beneifts with a single Bolt On. However, please
note the Bolt On is subject to fair usuage policy.
I hope, the above information is useful.. If you need any further help,
please feel free to contact us or visit our online.
Update: Ignore the above re 'O2 to O2' and Unlimited data + Wi-Fi being a combined bolt on - it isn't...

I'm currently due for renewal.
I'm currently on Online 35 with £10 discount (18 Months). I also have o2 broadband which I am also getting at discount (£2.99 per month).
I want the Nokia X6 which is available for free on the Online 35, however looks like they want to remove my contract discount (broadband discount will be unaffected).
I tried the retentions reps who basically said they can't stay as low as £25 per month but can renegotiate my contract so I have less minutes etc (which I never use anyway) but for £30 per month instead.
Ideally I'd usually leave over this however I don't want to lose my significant broadband discount (which I can't find a better price anywhere else).
So effectively, my price would be going up by £5 per month for the mobile and broadband combo.
In theory I could cancel my phone and broadband (which will cost £33 per month) and then subscribe to Virgin and get the same phone and package for £25 per month and get broadband with Plusnet for £6 per month - thereby making my new combination total £31 per month)
Do you reckon I should just stick with o2 and save myself the hassle of having to get new mobile and broadband contracts elsewhere for the sake of saving about £2 per month)?
ETA: Looks like retentions are offering me nothing that is not available via the website. Nothing for loyalty then :mad:I enjoy a pint of beer each night for it's health benefits. The other pints are for my witty comebacks and flawless dance moves.0 -

Quite curious as to how your getting your broadband for £2.99 a month... everytime I call o2 they remind me I could get it, despite already having it..
But to help your situation.. firstly look at the deals competitors are offering, I'm assuming the deal they offered is the X6, 300min, choice of bolt on unlimited text for £30 @ 18 months?
Have a look at this change the options to what you want, see if you can find a more favourable deal, phone retentions tell them you can get the X6 from (provider) with (calls/text) for (price), just make sure it's more favourable, retentions will soon give some flex.
Hope that helps.

Hi Chimp.
I've already told retentions that I can get the same deal for cheaper on Virgin Mobile... but they couldn't offer me anything better. Seems like they are not really that interested this year.

Hmmm, it just depends on the person you get on the end of the line really.
A couple of tried and tested steps is to phone and ask for your PAC code, then they know you mean business (you have 30 days to act on it, if you don't you contract doesn't end), so you could try that approach. (usually this is the best approach)
Another one is to keep calling until you get what you want. I keep trying this with Upgrades (as they won't put me through to retentions until I threaten to leave). So perseverance is the key:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -
Was offered this by retentions yesterday;
Nokia 5800 or 6700 or SE W995 or C903 - 24 months, £30 permonth with £240 cashback - 600 mins, unlim Text + internet
Recon iphone - 8gb, 24 months, £25 per month with 500 mins + unlim text + internet
Quite like new SE Vivaz phone but not in the deals as such yet...can't decide what to do....
What to do?0 -

None of those seem to be that good a deal to be fair.
The 5800 is quite old and not that great a phone, the SE W995 again a reasonably old phone and the c903 will be a lower end model to the c905, which was out 18 months ago. In my opinion, 24 months is never a good contract length, unless your happy being stuck with the same phone for the next 2 years?
As for the iPhone deal, I would go pressure them again on that. The handset is a refurb and the model was out over 2 years ago, there's a very high chance there's going to be a new model this year. People on this forum have had similar deals (like £28 pcm for 18 month contract on the 8G)
Essentially, it all comes down to - what you want the phone for, and if you will be happy sticking with the same handset for 1.5 years or 2 years?:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -
What happens if I come to the end of my contract and I haven't renewed/upgraded? Do I revert to the I monthly Simplicity plan?I enjoy a pint of beer each night for it's health benefits. The other pints are for my witty comebacks and flawless dance moves.0
