Cynergy Closed My Account after I Sent in a Complaint.
I had problems logging into my Cynergy Savings account so I sent an email to their complaints department about the problems I was having, a bit of a rant really, and if there was no satisfactory resolution I would close my account. I never got a reply from them but a few days later I tried logging in and was successful so…

Tax point on savings interest – contradictions and more thoughts
Further to
my previous thread on this subject, I wonder if anyone else can throw any more
light. Here’s a summary so far. Let’s take
as an example a 3 year fixed rate bond with annual interest added to the account,
where the funds are not normally accessible until maturity. We know that : SAIM
guidance says that interest…

I assume this is the probate and it will be another 6 months from now when the estate is paid out? Secondly, he expected both his brother…

Using our cash ISAs for Income and growth.
Quick background: my wife and I have accumulated over many years a reasonable size Stock & Shares ISA portfolio. We were taking circa 2.5% out a year as monthly income but were very unhappy with the growth aspect of the portfolio. So much so that we have liquidated all the funds etc into cash and moved it across to II…

The Top Fixed Interest Savings Discussion Area
I'm interested in people's thoughts and recommendations for the best fixed interest accounts. With BOE interests rates recently starting to increase we have to consider the desirability of long term fixed interest savings. Since withdrawals are usually not permitted before the end of the fixed period, such general interest…

National Grid Rights Issue
Hi, National Grid announced a 7 for 24 rights issue at £6.45 per new share. Among the options are cashless take up "tail-swallowing" or selling of the rights. The price for the rights depends on the market. How efficient are these kinds of markets? Am I naive to expect close to £2.60 (Current share price - £6.45) per new…

Saving a large sum for someone else
Hi all, I have a large amount of money (over £60k) for my younger sister who is under 18. Luckily, I didn't have to do any convincing and she said before I had the chance to, but I want to put this away for her (in her name) for the best possible interest. I want to put a smaller chunk in an instant access saver for when…

Trail commission - money for nothing?
I'm reviewing some of our savings and investments (.... and yes, I know, I should do so more regularly and systematically, but still....) and I have been looking into one investment in particular. This has thrown up an interesting question about value-for-money. The basic facts are that about 25 years ago we invested a…

Open an account for my grandchild with myself as Trustee
Without going into too much detail, my 1 year old grandson has recently lost his daddy (my son) and his mummy unfortunately has a life shortening condition (she has 10 years left at the most but it could be anytime). Santander Edge + Nationwide Flex limits plus interest.
Hello, I have 4k in the Edge Saver and £1500 in the Flex. Do I need to transfer the interest out the day it is credited to the account? so I don't lose my right to the higher rate of interest. Also the day the interest is credited to the accounts, it would take me above the stated limit of the accounts. Do I lose a days…
