Bulk LPG - Cheapest suppliers / supply route?
Hi all, Moved into a house in Jan that has a bulk LPG tank, which was previously supplied (and the tank is owned by) Calor. The contract they were really keen for me to sign was quite a restrictive lock in one and after speaking and a bit of negotiating they dropped the standing charge and discounted the pence per litre by…

Treated wood and chimney
Now I wouldn't do this given I don't fancy poisoning my neighbours, but people obviously do burn treated wood. Also imo, a wood stove is far more of a lifestyle choice if you didn't have it in the house to begin with and it isn't cheap compared to say a heat pump or even gas half the time Would burning treated wood also…

Commmunal heating and Hot Water
Could anybody tell me who is responsible for the cost of draining down the system in a communal private block of flats in order to replace the radiator in my flat. I pay £200 pm for maintainence for the block which includes central heating and hot water and is managed by a management company and directors. There are 36…

What are people paying for Kiln Dried Logs?
I've fitted lots of thermostatic valves and a Tado etc last year and managed to get my usage in a old Victorian house down to half of last year. Admittedly the cost stayed the same, which I guess in the circumstances was a result. During the summer we have had a log burner installed and that should help reduce the use of…

Heating alternatives, possibly LPG?
Hi All I’d like to
see what people here think about my situation for heating my home. I live in
part of an old broken-up estate house, which is listed. I bought this house
last year and survived the past winter just. The house has a wet central heating
system, which is currently driven by a 9kW electric boiler. I am…

Getting an electricity supplier to deal with solar panel power
I have had problems with bill payments to outfox the market.
I had solar panels fitted to my property in 2024. Whilst I would have expected
not to need electricity from the grid from that point, I was told that I would
realistically need maybe 15% usage from the grid, and mainly during winter due
to shorter days. I…

Calor issues help and advice
Good day. Basically I'm in a 2 year contract with Calor. This is due to end in December. The gas in the tank I had before the issue will last until then. Calor lorry rolls up last autumn dumps 636 litres of gas BY MISTAKE into my tank. Should've been delivered to the neighbours tank. Calor admit the mistake. Invoice ME for…

TANK REMOVAL
Currently with Avanti, and out of contract. Tried to switch but informed that my above tank is non compliant, due to boundaries not being within the required distance. I am considering changing my energy supply to an electric boiler. Can anyone advise if I will need to pay the costs for removing the tank?

Calor LPG - HELP!
We have had endless issues with them since we’ve been renting this property 4 years ago. We will be moving and only just received a completion date so have just informed them. They delivered gas to us in May (that we never requested) and they want us to pay £1k for that gas because they’re not going to take it back from…

Heat Pump alternatives
Would really love some advice as we are really struggling. Moved into our new house a few months ago that has a Biomass pellet boiler. When we bought the house, the boiler was serviced, and the agent and the owners sang the praises of the boiler and how the owners owned a company who installed it and could help us out with…

kerosene/ heating oil prices
Today I was ripped off by Crown oils at the pump for 91p/ liter of heating oil! When I got back I rang them to ask them how much they charge for it They said 86p plus vat on the pump and 82p bulk delivery I asked them before a few week ago and was quoted 67p and asked why the hike and just a load of BS from the sales rep.…

Calor Gas unfair billing
im writing to see if anyone else has had issues with Calor Gas and their billing / deliveries ? in 2022 my elderly father agreed a monthly amount with a manager there who calculated what he would require monthly and set up a direct debit . They have been taking monthly amounts from him but were then billing him seperately…

Removing an LPG tank
We've recently had our LPG boiler removed and replaced with an ASHP as part of the ECO scheme, as such the LPG tank in the front garden is now redundant and needs to go. We had a contract with Avanti Gas which expired in January and they've quoted me £500 + VAT to take the tank away and an additional £280 + VAT to pump the…

Q's on commercial emergency diesel leccy generation.
Hi. On the off-chance that anyone on here has insights to such a topic  What price ppl would a commercial operator be able to buy red diesel at, compared to domestic? No idea of quants involved, but I guess 30k litres or more. Rough efficiency of 1950's generators, and how this improved in the 60's? Thanks.

Defunct Oil Tank
We have an oil tank that is no longer used. It is empty to the level of the exit valve. Does anyone know how you would get it removed and how much that would cost? It's plastic with a single wall so I don't see that it is capable of being used elsewhere.

What's the current "yearly minimum" people have been buying kerosene at?
[17/03/25 -- plz see post 8] My first and only delivery so far was 63p/L - is this likely to come down over the next 12 months? what would we be talking.....55p/L or something? 500L of 55p/L would over 12 months be £40 cheaper than I bought. so putting an oil drum in the garage at about £15 would probably be worth it at…

Riello Gulliver RG1 Oil Burner - I think?
Hello, newbie here. Not just to this forum, but to heating, as I come from living in the tropics. Bought a brick/concrete house in western Greece (considered climate zone B) that has a Riello Gulliver RG1 light oil burner in a concrete boiler room connected to Erdecast (boiler?). It is connected to a compressor that is…

Current LPG Price
Hello, I am with Flogas and need to order some gas in the next month or two. We use approximately 1200L per year. Our last fill was in November last year, 900L at 51ppl and a daily standing charge of 25p, all plus VAT. What are the current prices people are paying for now. We are based in Dorset, I realise there will be a…

Boilerjuice Boilerjuice ...
Don't say it three times in a row! I had a quote from Boilerjuice today, for 600 litres of residential heating oil, 30 minutes to decide and the lowest cot £458.98 (delivery by 30th April). I called Johnston Oils, who quoted £382.47, with delivery by 29th April. I placed the order with Johnston Oils and learned a valuable…

Removing oil central heating?
Hello all, We moved into our new home which we bought in October last year. it has an old oil tank which is not bunded and needs moving as does not meet legislation.
