Tank removal after contract end with Flogas

My contract with Flogas ends in two weeks. I have given them 42 days notice that I no longer need LPG and requested tank removal. Basically they are saying I have to pay £550 plus vat or continue paying tank rental and keep the tank in the garden. They do have clauses in the small print of there contracts about the uplift fee continuing after the contract period. Has anyone ever had them remove their tank for free? We have just had Air source Heat Pump fitted under Eco4 , hence no need for gas.

Sorry for the late reply Kevin. Yes I did get my tank removed. I previously offered them the gas in the tank , about £500 worth , they normally give you half the value back, they refused this but in the end that's what happened. I'd been advised to pay the £550 plus vat under duress and tell them I'd then take them to small claims court to challenge their contract clause that makes you pay tank rental even when you have finished your contract. This would render the clause useless in everyone's contract if I'd won. That worked and I started getting emails about uplifting the tank. They came , emptied the tank and took the tank away too. I wasn't billed and no tank rental was charged from the end of my contract two months earlier. Didn't hear anything else from them so after a couple of months I emailed them and they confirmed my account was closed.
