Cards to use abroad
We normally go on holiday to Europe and load a Caxton card with euros to use while we are away. However, we are off to Stockholm very soon and are wondering whether it will be better to use our Nat West ordinary credit card, or a Santander All in One to pay in kroner. I also have a Santander Edge debit card. In the Money…

Downfalls of credit cards when you can afford paying in full?
My wife and I have been considering getting a credit card. We've always been very adverse to opening an account as we have a strict no debt policy, aside from our car and home payment. However, I know people who have free or very cheap credit cards to collect airline points or other benefits. There is no interest if you…

Warning over Amazon Barclaycard
Just been told by Amazon Barclaycard that they currently can't increase people's credit limits. Just to be clear, I don't mean that they won't give me a higher credit limit but that on the Amazon Barclaycard the system isn't set up to be able to do this 🤬 I have never heard anything so ridiculous for a major brand -…

Barclaycard CSV exports
In anticipation of the closure of the Barclaycard Online Servicing web facility on 19th August, I decided to investigate the current Barclaycard facilities in Barclays Online Banking. As a long-time user of the CSV export facility of transactions, I tried the facility on the Barclays site. Not only are the columns in a…

Declined Section 75 claim. No valid DCS link
I hope that someone can help. I was tricked by a roofing company into paying £2500 for 30 minutes work. I later complained to my credit card company that I had been promised a 25 year guarantee for the work but didn't receive it. They declined to raise a Section 75 claim as there was a fourth party involved. The roofing…

Stalled (?) application for an HSBC credit card
I need a new credit card and HSBC was the highest-placed contender on the MSE recommendation list. I have good credit and was 100% pre-approved on the MSE ranking. I filled out the application and got a screen at the end that said (I am probably paraphrasing) "thank you for your application, we'll review it and respond…

Using 0% credit card for mortgage over payment
Hi, My window for overpayment on my mortgage is up on 31/8 and would like to keep up my plan to pay it off as quick as possible. I had some resolved health issue at the start of the year so this looks to be the best option. Repayment isn't an issue so would I be able to take a credit card out (as long as eligible), pay off…

Existing Customer Transfer Offers
What Money or Balance transfer offers are existing customers getting and where from? I’m especially interested in the percentage fee. For example Lloyds are currently offering me 24m BT with 3% fee.

BT lack of offers
Are credit files ( hard searches) checked when offering BT? I've opened 3 CC of late for 0% purchases (M&S, Lloyds & RBS) all now maxed out, but now my BT offers have dried up (Natwest, HSBC & Barclays) where before I has having them every month.

Lloyds Ultra Credit Card
Just seen that Lloyds have released a new Cashback CC with both no FX and 0.25% cashback. https://www.lloydsbank.com/credit-cards/ultra.html What are people's thoughts in comparison to the Barclaycard Rewards offering that is so often discussed around here?

JAJA Minimum payment
Hi, Foolishly assumed my minimum payment was the interest plus a percentage of the balance which iis how previous cards had worked. I have been paying the card off but recently my balance has climbed so now having to pay the minimum for next few months. My interest rate is 40% so am trying to clear card and cancel ASAP. My…

Vanquis travel credit card
I chanced upon this whilst trawling Facebook - has one unusual perk apparently - free airport lounge access if your flight is delayed 90 minutes or more. Also a facility for applying for refunds when compensation is due. No fees on foreign transactions when purchasing goods or services. Anybody got one and had experience…

Using HSBC Credit Card
I've just received an HSBC Credit Card, however the paperwork says nothing about the 3 year transfer at 0% mentioned on the newsletter, the main reason I applied, only an expensive 24.9%. It seems like a standard piece of paper though. Has anyone explicitly received the 0% rate? Second question is, can the card be managed…

Prepaid US Visa with $1.02 Balance But Live In UK - Ideas To Use, Plz?
Was sent a prepaid US Visa card from a rewards app. Edit: It's a virtual card not a physical card so can't use it in a shop. The issuer is "Tremendous" and the balance is US $1.02. I live in the UK and am stumped as to what to do with it. Amazon won't accept it, Paypal won't accept it, I've added it to eBay but can't find…

Unmanageable subscriptions and credit card challenges!
Has anyone got any insight here. I have a subscription with a well known tea provider. Over the years I have had several different subscriptions which I have managed to delay or skip deliveries as required. Service has always been excellent. Last month my usual subscription reminder came through and I tried to delay it but…

How quickly can I change credit card provider without it hurting my credit score/history?
For context: This is my first credit card and I'm not looking to change to get more credit, I want to change because my current provider has been an absolute nightmare to deal with and their customer service has been terrible (by 'change' I mean get another credit card and cancel this one)

Best Credit Card For Buyer Protection?
I am looking at a credit card purely for purchase protection (I do buy from reputable suppliers). This can be goods or services, so I mean chargebacks and section 75 refunds. Specifically one that is easy to deal with. I've not had any bad experiences, and don't need a card for delayed payments (cashback would be good…
