Section of laminate has lifted off
Just bought a flat and it seems, that since we last viewed it, someone (helpfully!) had turned the fridge/ freezer off, which has resulted in a leak and a section of the adjacent laminate flooring having lifted off. Is there any easy way to replace a small section of laminate without having to replace the whole lot? Or…

Repair power shower or new one?
Hi I think the pump has gone on my power shower (no pumping sound and just a trickle of water). Is it worth getting it repaired or should I get a new one? If a repair is possible, how much is it likely to cost? (It's a fairly basic Triton model). It's only about two years old, which is annoying as it's out of guarantee!…

New Washing Machine advice
Can anyone suggest a good water efficient washing machine? Our Servis machine now needs new bearings but has given excellent service (!) for 16 years. I did fit a new inner drum and backplate 10 years ago. Thing is, it uses a massive 80 litres of water each wash and we use it a lot. Do new machines use significantly less…

Plaster and paint or tile bathroom?
Am sorting out the kit for my new bathroom, the thing is I'm not sure whether to tile or plaster the walls. Any real benefits to tiling over plastering in the bathroom? Provided the walls are treated and plastered/painted properly, what difference is there between the two? The bathroom below is pretty much how I'd like…

A question that's often asked on here. Something else to consider. Hotpoint offers free parts on their machines for 5 years apparently. But they also charge £90 callout which you have to pay in advance by credit card.

Tea pot burn on polished wood table!
I bought a coffee table from a charity shop. The varnish on the top was coming off. I got it home and sanded it down only to discover a raised circular patch which is an obvious teapot burn. I dare not rub it down any more as it is MDF and veneered. I'm sure there is a method to deal with this, something with an iron. Any…
