council tax rebate
following advice I found on this site, I queried my council tax band - following a conversation with my neighbour, it transpired they were in a lower tax band, checking VOA website revealed that we were the only house in an identical terrace of houses in band D everyone else was in band C. Today I received a letter from…

Council tax band issue
The flat I am in at the moment (rented) is supposedly Band C however all the properties around it are in Band B (and my flat is probably smaller than all the others - 1 bedroom). My first issue is should I go ahead and try and get it rebanded as I am not sure how this will effect things for my landlord? I have been in the…

Council tax - reclaiming discount, their error
Hi, I'm not sure if this is in the right place. When I got my council tax bill through this year, it had a single occupancy discount on it, despite the fact that my other half moved in last April. I called the tax office to ask for it to be removed, and was informed that we had been given the discount last year as well. I…

T Mobile Fonesafe insurance
Hi all Back in Feb/March 2009 I took out an 18 month contract with T-Mobile for a new phone, and stupidly took their offer of 'Fonesafe' insurance, for an extra £6.99 a month. Come September 2009 I was in Spain and had my phone stolen. I managed to get through to T Mobile in England to cancel my sim card, and the next day…

Hi Guys, Last night I had a call from someone saying that I would be able to have my credit cards paid off, as under section 77 (I think) I would be able to make a claim for the credit card people increasing my credit limits without me re-signing a new credit agreement - is this correct??? Has anyone heard of this? If so,…

Student Loan Overpayment Interest
Am I right (or stupid) in assuming that because I have overpaid my student loan by about £500 and HMRC only inform SLC of payments once a year then stopping repayment can only be done every tax year. If this is the case am I entitled to interest on repayment (similar to bank charge interest) ?

repossession balance
My flat was repossessed over a year ago, and after the bank got its money back the balance was lodged somewhere like a court. I've mislaid the paperwork as my partner was dying of cancer at the time. Its about 22k that me and my ex husband are owed but I don't know where to find it, who to ask or how to get it. Can anyone…

Wheel Clamp - Private
I have been clamped by a private wheel clamp company. It has been there for 2 weeks because I could not afford the original £75 fine and now that has rocketed to £250. I simply cannot afford it and it runs the risk of plunging me into debt if I put it on my credit card at 21.9%. I have spoken to the office and they did not…

Council Tax banding - worth a claim?
I've just checked the council band of my neighbours and 3 of the 16 identical houses are in a lower band (band D - the rest, including my house, are band E). This obviously looks like the minority houses are in the wrong band. However, it seems that their banding was changed from E to D in 2002 (I don't know why). There…

Reclaiming lost Airmiles
We where sent a letter from Airmiles in 2009 informing us that the airmiles we had where due to expire unless we add some to our account. Being a Tesco Clubcard holder we tried to add some airmiles to our account using vouchers we received through the post. I checked our account as we where thinking of going away and where…
