I have had a similar experience this morning. Ordered the 3000 and had an email saying 'you must choose a monitor'. Replied back and said 'OK i will go for a 17" CRT. Somebody from the customer service department then rang me to check that the spec was what i wanted and said the total price would be £237 inc VAT + Del. Received the PDF's a few hours later but it did not include the monitor and was for the base unit only (£137) So, i decided to leave it and after a few days rang to check the status of my order. Found out that it had been cancelled! Rang back to say that i did order it with a monitor but they will no longer honour that price and are quoting me over £450!!! Am at a loss at what to do next! >:(0

I got the same call yesterday and same price. Its not a bad offer but as I dont need another monitor (I got one spare already) I am reluctant to buy one.Just got the call from Dell today,.. order confirmed with the 17" monitor.. #212.31 total...
So if you still haven't heard from dell - dont give up! Keep emailing... there is light at the end of the tunnel...
No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you0 -
I originally tried for the £106 machine. I later received a call (at my mother's house in UK, as I'm in France), from the call centre in India. Poor mother (80 years old) couldn't understand it (accent, PC speak, etc). I emailed Dell, and told them that if they wanted to telephone me, could they ring me at my French number. (Should make no difference to them from India!).
A few days later, they telephoned at Mum's again, leaving her flummoxed and anxious.
I have now emailed Dell telling them that I never want to hear from them again.

Received the phone call the other day but have decided to let this one go and have e-mailed Dell telling them to cancel my order.

Hi everyone
I've just been reading the threads to this topic and it seems 50/50 whether you have managed to get a cheap pc.
I'm keen to have a try at getting one - this pc is on its last legs! Please can you tell me how you get a pc for such a low price?
I've just been on the Dell site and can't see how to do it.
Would be very grateful of your help

Just spoken to the friendly Walsh Western people and my 3000 system (with the additional £90+VAT 17"CRT monitor) is being delivered on Monday.
Total price for the full system = £242.!! ;D
I'm well happy! Thanks to everyone for sticking this one out with Dell!.
Also - thanks should go to Dell. Remember, they rejected all our orders "without monitor" and we thought this was the end. The fact they had a change in heart and offered their £140 monitor for £90 has to be admired. Remember, we all originally thought this deal was too good to be true. Remember when we all chose to blatently ignore the compatability error pop-ups?
It's all worked out pretty good in the end if you ask me!

I've got mine now too. Also, here is a phone number that gives the option to actually dial an extention at Dell. I had a very nice Lady on the other side who was very helpful.
"Your Case Number<case number>. If you need further assistance with your CURRENT ISSUE, please feel free to contact my Resolution Expert at zareena_kazim@dell.com or 0870 907 5128 at her extension no 73382"
To keep in mind for next time (although it says CURRENT ISSUE)...0 -
