My view on this is that the Govt is happy provided its coffers are being filled, no matter how crooked the method adopted in doing so. Aside from that, it clearly isn't interested in promoting small businesses to aid economic recovery as if it was, the banks would be lending. I've no doubt that this is all part of the plan to have every average Joe in this country (not to mention Europe and probably globally) in hock to the banks and govt and therefore at the mercy of whatever they choose to do. Bring on the New World Order, the single global army, the single global currency, the censorship of the internet and the burning of every remaining copy of 1984. Call me paranoid ... The banks are doing well (I used to work for them) but why isn't that huge debt being written off? This is a manufactured situation that we walked into and instead of saying "the world is crippled by debt that needs to be written off", apparently the best thing to do is leave a legacy of debt and despair to our children while we still talk about printing more money - give me a break (a tax break, preferably)!
It's all part of the plan to screw us so hard we'll eventually accept any solution they wave before our snivelling noses.0 -
I used to work at Pilleys firm and it is not as bad as the person above says, I left because one of the managers was a t***.
Its big and they listen to your calls to check you dont lie.
After leaving i joined a company nearby called dsm media who wanted to copy Commercial Power, anything goes there!
They only sell Opus but claim to be impartial. The manager is Marie and the telephone number is 0844 555 3004 (see page 7)
Opus give them ecoes an industry website with everyones elec details on, they trawl through everyday looking for victims to play the meter registrations pitch to. This is illegal.
If they get any complaints they give out Pilleys tel number to get them in bother! nice eh?
I have since left0 -
Hi
BES has asked to give a response. MSE doesn't endorse anything a company says on the Forum.
I've recently been made aware of some adverse comment on this forum from apparently dissatisfied customers of our company. I am very keen to try to resolve all genuine issues any of our customers may have as we pride ourselves on what I firmly believe to be our very high standards of customer care by comparison with the bigger suppliers in our industry.
If any of the posters on this forum would like to contact me personally therefore with sufficient details to help me investigate their concerns fully, I will ensure that any complaints are handled quickly and efficiently.
My email address is phil.brown@besutilities.co.uk
Kind Regards
Phil Brown

I had Commercial Energy Meter Registration's Lewis pestered me today. I suspect that this is the same dodgy agency. Lewis wanted our gas & elec meter serial numbers in regards of "inputting data" on their system. Trigger for contact was my partner advertising her painting/decorating business with our home address. Lewis was unsure when I asked him to contact our existing supplier for these details. He was being coached on the phone and when his coach realised that Lewis was trying to sell a SME supply contract to a domestic property the line was cut off. The big point is that even if you mistakenly agree a deal over the phone you've got remedies - don't sign the new supplier's contract and tell your existing supplier asap that you object. The existing supplier can then reject the new supplier's registration of your meter and stop the new supplier's deal.
Also, I took CEMR's address & post code from Lewis at the start of my conversation. It was ficticious.marybishop wrote: »Has anyone else had a call from a company calling themselves the 'Meter Registration Service'?
Had a call just now from someone claiming to be from the above telling me that I had just come out of a contract with my current supplier and was now paying their emergency rates which were 30 - 40% higher than what I needed to be paying!
He was very insistent that he wasn't calling on behalf of one supplier and that the MRS work for all the suppliers! No, I wasn't falling for it either!
So I told him I was with EON to which he replied 'I could have told you that before you told me' - cheek! So I told him if I had any concerns I would get in touch with EON, thank you and goodbye. He slammed the phone down before I did!
Phoned EON to ask if they'd ever heard of this outfit and the lady at the other end said she hadn't but it was obviously a cold call and not a very good one at that!! :rotfl:
So beware - if they ring, tell them where to go!!!0 -
I keep getting calls to our office RE the meter registration and have to explain to each person we are not the meter registration and operate no such "scam" however we do operate in the capacity of an energy broker and provide an excellence service to thousands of people.
I am posting for the below reason however...
I have just had a dispute with N Power in which they have expressed that they are aware of company's trading on verbals as "Meter Registration Service of Commercial Power" and yet they are not interested... they say that its a genuine business name that they recognise and so long as the verifaction is fine they dont care. I have suggested that surly the pre sell is as important as the verbal on the grounds of mis-sale but apparently they dont care enough to ask for it because it would apparently breech DP. We provide all full calls to all my suppliers (because we don't have anything to hide) we simply beep out other suppliers names and prices to ensure diplomacy.
PS i have the above on a recorded call to back up the names given.
(the guy was on about DP but has given away a brokers name which im sure is a no no... )0 -
HI, Same issues as everyone else. New business persistent calling. I am asking:
1) New operator every time , somebody has to be paying them
2) somebody is paying for the telephone calls
3)somebody is paying for the data about new business starting up
All this costs money, this is by no means a home office set up. Somebody is paying mega bucks for this project.
Come on N power, Opus etc etc tell us what the real story is. "NOW" can phone hack why cant the energy companies do this sort of rubbish?
Are the energy companies saying they do not know who these people are. How can you not know your agents? how can they sign me up with N power (for eg) without N powers approval? How in this day and age cant phone numbers be tracked? yes i get unknown calls, if these was a police case all it takes is one phone call to O2 and they will reveal the caller ID. The phone lines have to be assigned to someone? Why does not OFCOMM do something? i have registered with them lets see what happens after 1 month. Who are blessing these guys? that even after multitude of threats, verbal abuse and repeatedly telling them i am sub let and i do not have a meter they still persist in calling you and are not scared of anything. These are pure !!!!! type tactics.
After fronting up one of the operators i got a web address (which i am not allowed to post here since i am a new user) which does not reveal anything.0 -
Hi, long story short, think I've been tricked by this company. I'm hoping that because I've not officially taken over the business premises yet and none of them have a copy of my tenacy agreement they can't do anything for the time being so long as the current occupiers refuse to change anything. Meanwhile I've also verbally agreed to a much more preferable deal with E.On and am keeping my fingers crossed that E.On get the transfer done quicker and reject other companies from trying to connect to the premises.
The barrage of calls I received on Monday afternoon was practically non-stop. They tried yesterday and after reading this forum I thought I'd give them a taste of their own medicine. They lied, so I thought I'd lie back, so far I've only had the one call from them today (fingers crossed). The following is along the lines of the conversation I had with the caller today, if it helps anyone.
Caller: Hi, it's Vicky, we spoke the other day, I wondered if you managed to get the meter number for your premises? (I've not previously spoken to a Vicky.)
Me: I'm sorry, which company are you calling from?
Caller: Commerical Meter Registration, do you have the meter number?
Me: Yes, but I already spoke to your colleague yesterday.
Caller: Oh can you remember his name?
Me: I think it was someone called Lee.
Caller: Lee who?
Me: I'm sorry I don't know, he took all the details and signed me up to BES.
Caller hung up with not so much as a thank you.
I generally hate lying, but another 20mins or so and I can turn my phone off, and so far not another call.0 -
Just googled harassing calls from a meter service provider and came across this page. 2-3 months ago i was contacted by a man claiming to be from "meter services" or something along those lines. At the time i had not gone into business, although progress was happening i.e. websites etc.
The guy asked my address and then spooled off the soon to be business name, and started talking to me about my business meters at the address given. My reply was this is my home address and once the business is up and running i will be mobile (no premises) he apologized and the call ended. Course it bugged me thinking is someone taking the mick out of me as it came through on my mobile as a blocked number.
Anyways about 20 minutes ago the same company ring me asking about meters and then reeled off once again my home address (no mention of the business), again i told them residential property and asked what they wanted, they hung up on me.
Thing i cant get my head around is where they got this info from as my website does not have my home address on. So that just leaves my insurers and the tax man?
This company needs to be reported and closed down its a disgrace how they can try and doop you into information about yourself.0 -
Just reviving this as they are starting to call again. So far in 2 days I've had 2 calls. I am registered with TPS but I haven't talked to Meter Registation yet as I've been on a course.
Loads of helpful advice, my business is run from home and we're having solar panels :rotfl: So unless they can do better than free electricity I'm not going to be interested.0 -
Have a bit of fun with them, one way of dealing with pest callers is to be as polite as possible and simply explain to them that they have the wrong contact details however it happens all the time and you'd be happy to give them the correct details, such as "Mr P I Staker" or "Amanda Hugankiss" Hugh Ganis" etc, make up a number and at least "IF" they call back you can at least have a laugh.0
