Meter Registration Service ???!!!

It is so annoying Opus only hear what they want to hear on the recording, they don't care you have been lied to. Simon its an easy trap to fall into so don't be to hard on yourself, although I know I was going out of my mind with worry when I realised I had fallen for the lies and was tied into a contract....you can't help it!
At least we've learnt from this awful experience.... I trust no one on the phone now! Have a look through all the threads on here- there is some good advice and you may be able to relate to other peoples experiences with MRS, and find a plan of action.
Ps. It won't matter to them that you don't own the building as they will say you have verbally agreed to the supply :-(
Best of luck!0 -
I received 9 phone calls in the space of 40 minutes. The callers telling me I need to register my meter with them etc etc. It doesnt matter how many times I tell them I have a supplier, account up and running etc, the reply is "you will keep getting these calls until you tell us who they are"
Re message at the top of this page, Charles Quinn, had the pleasure back in April, he told me they had received the recording of my details, but it was too faint to understand and wanted me to supply the details over the phone to him. with this I took his tel number 01253 206294, and guess what, I never rang him back. I have said thanks and goodbye (trying to stay polite) only for them to call back and say, "dont hang up on me again, or I will make sure you continue to get calls !!!0 -
Oh I know its awful.... Apparently Opus don't request the first part of the conversation where the broker lies and misleads you they only have the recorded contract part, I really think this needs be changed its so wrong - these energy brokers are getting away with lieing and cashing in, and so many people are stuck in a contract they don't want. Grrrr....! Bullies YES!!!
Helennicole- Have you tried contacting british gas to ask them to reject opus taking over? you need to be quick!!!
Hi,
I rang british gas and they assured me they wouldn't allow the transfer.. However it still went ahead as apparently opus had found some kind of loophole where if the kept on trying it would automatically transfer
Anyway, I received an email today from opus saying they were cancelling the contract, even tho they are still calling me a liar
I've suggested they take a look on hear and. Give some people some explanations! And look at the lengths brokers are going to...
Sounds like Mr Quinn has no shame ! Would like to thank him for all the stress and upset... While pregnant!
Also wonder why the broker didn't just ring and say... Hi, I was just wondering if you could spare 5 minutes while I see if I can get you some cheaper rates on your gas and electric!? They may get more happy customers that way... Instead of coming strait in with the lies!0 -
Has anyone reported the charlatans to Watchdog?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/gotastory/
These scumbags shouldn`t be allowed to get away with their lies.:money:0 -
Fill... If you were miss lead into this contract, don't give up. Ring the obudsmun, they gave me the email for someone higher up. I have since had them cancel my contract. Just keep on and insist you were lied to etc...
Even tho they cancelled my contract, they still had to get a dig in that the recording says I agreed to everything! And yea after a 45 minute phone call and being told that opus were british gas, I am heard saying yes to a contract with opus. But they don't take anything in to account...
God this is so frustrating!!
I have reported them to watchdog, consumer direct, the obudsmun... Everyone needs to do this for something to be doone about it.0 -
I have around 10 recordings of these companies. I am more than happy to forward to any investigators/watchdogs etc. I have a business to run but they have really got on my goat with this unethical approach.0

A complaint should be made and a link sent to this thread.:money:0

hi ppl.
i too have been foolishly duped into a 2year contract with opus by MRS for 1 business electric meter, 1 residential electric meter and 1 gas residential meter. looking back, i feel ashamed i agreed to all of this :-(
MRS informed me that they would change all 3 meters over to opus. is this possible? i thought opus were a 'business energy' supplier? can they still (legally) supply residential meters? im just looking for anyway to get out of this damn contract before it goes live in a few days!!
i recently took over the business from my dad and informed the cureent suppliers (npower, bgas) that there was a change of name on the account. same story, in the persuing days, dozens of calls regarding energy supply/ meter registration. unfortunately, one of them managed to get me. gave them my bank details and agreed to a 2 year contract (what a muppet!) a matter of minutes later, i got suspicous and then found all this. my heart sunk.
rang opus twice and both times they said nothing was pending on my meters, so i thought i may have got away with it. rang my current supplier today (npower) to try and negotiate a beeter deal and was informed that opus are taking over the supply on the 25/07/11. argh!! rang opus and she confirmed that they had contracts pending for all 3 meters! told her of my dissatisfaction about the way i was conned into this contract but she wasnt very sympathetic. she listened to the recording of the verbal agreement and was happy everything was done correctly. and to be honest, i imagine i do sound very adhering and willing, but after the speil i was fed before the recording started, im not suprised!
she said she's gonna listen to the recording again with the complaints team and get back to me within 5 woring days. she's also gonna send me a copy of the recording. she also asked what prices id been offered on other companies tarrifs. got a feeling they might come back and offer me something better. i just want rid of opus completely tho after the way they go about getting new customers.
is there anything i can do to get out of the impending 2 years of hell with opus???
kind regards,
Simon
edit: another point to add is that it is my grandfather who owns the building, although my name is on the gas/electric bills. does this hold any weight in the dispute? ie, can i get my grandad to say he doesnt want the supply transfering?

Since my last post on 22.06 you may find the following series of events interesting:
24/06; I confirm with Swalec that they are the current supplier to my new business premises and I also confirm that I wish nothing to change :j
27/06: Letter from Atlantic to say "Sorry you're leaving"
04/07; Letter from Southern Electric saying "Welcome" along with a new contract.
25/07; A bill from Atlantic for..........22p :exclamati:exclamati:exclamati
27/07; Another letter from Atlantic to say "Thanks for asking us to be your new supplier.....but we are not able to register you.......you will need to give your current supplier notice" etc. :undecided
01/08; A card from Southern Electric saying "Good Choice" and welcoming me to their service.
03/08; Another letter from Southern Electric which also says "Thanks for asking us to be your new supplier.....but we are not able to register you.......you will need to give your current supplier notice" etc
So, I presume I am still with Swalec??? And now for the punchline......All 3 of these companies stated above are part of ONE company, Scottish & Southern.
They're even fighting amongst themselves :rotfl:
No wonder our bills keep going up :mad::mad:
