Why are some people on here being so nasty?

Like the way their still showing "Homes under the Hammer" type progs with all those smug people who are making thousands, ie "i take 3months holiday a year so i do this for income- ive just bought this 1/2 million pound house which i think i will keep for my children" etc, etc, its so easy!0

Well sadly as prices were rising there were plenty of smug homeowners with some being extremely condescending. Now the housing pyramid had started to collapse it comes with a deep sigh of relief from first time buyers and those who have stood and witnessed the madness for the last decade.
If you wish to lay the blame see below -
Labour Government - The housing bubble has been their route to two further election wins through the illusion of wealth and prosperity. The truth is debt, misery and a broken society.
The Bank of England - Artificially low interest rate policy gave birth to the housing asset bubble and the consumer debt bubble. We are all suffering the consequences now with rampant inflation.
Financial Services Authority - Why do they exist? Where were they for the last decade? They didn't notice the dodgy lending practices of the lenders when I did?
The dodgy Lenders and the dodgy borrowers - When I say borrowers I mean those that lied about their income and committed mortgage fraud, over-stretching themselves in order to obtain a mortgage at any cost. The speculators and property !!!!!! good for nothings, and of course the greedy perverse lenders. One could go on but we all now see the truth of the UK housing market.0 -
Really hope you're feeling better, Lizzymouse - I was really worried after reading some of your posts and sincerely hope you got no personal aggro on here - you of all people certainly don't need it. Particularly as you posted on here for advice before buying recently, too.
I've got plenty of vicious personal abuse on here recently - for better or worse, the personal abuse is not limited to one side or other in the debate.
As you well know, I have only sympathy for your situation, and really hope you've managed to resolve it in some way, or are at least nearer to deciding how to do that. Try to ignore those who use the internet to attack those asking for help - they are not worth getting upset about. As far as I'm concerned, those who post vitriolic personal attacks on me pass below my radar - they are clearly those so bent on pursuing their own agenda that they will attack anyone whose perceived agenda is different - they are not really capable of viewing either of us as people with feelings.
Focus on what you need to get through your difficult time - hope it all works out for you. Big hug.
That highlighted bit made me howl with laughter because that is how i would describe you...Made my day...:p0 -
If I'd made a foolish financial decision I wouldn't want sympathy. It is not helpful. I would admit that what I've done was not clever, and seek constructive advice on how best to deal with the situation and move forward. I've made my fair share of mistakes, but you can't learn from them unless you admit you've made them.
A lot of people here seem to take a reactionary attitude to things, like they are a feather, just floating through life without any power to shape their destiny. Sorry if I sound like a self-help guru, but we are all in control of our own lives and financial situations. If it is sympathy, belonging and hugs and cuddles you require, I believe Sky shows re-runs of Operah.0 -
Financial Services Authority - Why do they exist?
The "Financially Supine Authority" as Private Eye calls it!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Mogadon is an old 60's sleeping pill / anti depressant I think...makes you groggy....doesn't match up with a knitting hobby...got to be on the ball to knit well.
He / She implies that some on this thread are dull, groggy and are boring...as knitting is the sort of hobby that takes time to deliver anything ...and then, a small bit of knitting.
Not a hobby like sky diving...zany, fun, exciting.
fc123 - I am male, there aren't too many Bobbie-Jos or Robertas about in the Building Industry.
And "If at first you don't succeed - so much for skydiving"
Stopcock works now? How about S!!!!horpe?A house isn't a home without a cat.
Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.
It's a recession when your neighbour loses his job; it's a depression when you lose yours.0 -
Aw jeez, not this !!!!!! again....
Look, if you want hugs and to be told what you want to hear, find another forum, like the DFW forum. You get told how it is on here and if you don't like it, tough !!!!!!.
I'm getting pretty sick of you and your cronies coming on this forum whinging and whining that were not all nice and huggy with each other. We don't "do" huggy.
It goes something like this :
PasturesNew : Tongue-in-cheek sarcasm and general comedy :rotfl:
Brit1234 : Chief Scare-mongerer :rotfl:

Dopester : Back-up scare-mongerer, but draws us graphs in MS Paint to get his point across instead of using words like everyone else :rotfl:
Neverdespairgirl : On the 'Thanks' button, regardless of whether she agrees with you or not :rotfl:
Pickles "Green Shoots" 110564 (or is it BTLnewbie?) : Chief "there is no HPC" wooden spoon holder/troll :rotfl:
