Why are some people on here being so nasty?

It seems to be that there are alot of people on this forum who are incredibly smug and who have nothing but cruel words to say to people who are currently suffereing as a result of the house price situation
If people have nothing constuctive or sympathetic to offer those people who are currently loosing sleep, worrying, feeling depressed and upset because they are facing real financial trouble at the moment then they would be better posting no reply at all.
There is alot of bad feeling towards buy to let investors, but please remember that there are alot of people out there who struggled to buy their only home in the last year or so, work hard, saved hard, did nothing wrong, and are now up the creek without a paddle.
They need sympathy and support, not cruel wisecracks and smugness from those of you who are fortunate enought not to be in this unhappy situation.

Yes there are some nasty people about. It makes me sick the way some people are so cruel.
BTW, you may wish to address the following:
"...loosing sleep..."
"...facing realy financial..."
"...There is alot of..."
Edit: I hope no one takes a fence by my posting. I normally sit on it when it comes to posting on this forum. I guess I'm just in a funny mood today.0 -
Well said Lizzy. I've said the same myself but what you have to realize is that they're smug because they're knowalls and they could predict this a mile off and have been saying so for years. They had to wait a long time for it to come to pass and I'm afraid the impression they give is as if not to care and a 'serves em right' attitude. It's because they are not affected and none of their nearest and dearest are affected. What goes around comes around. Hope you come good in the end. Make sure you seek out any help out there won't you.0

What goes around comes around..
People say that a lot on MSE. I don't know why, it's very far from self-evident to me....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
People are adament they are right. I think they sometimes forget people on the other side of the screen are real with feelings too in their effort to win their arguement. They see it almost as a challenge, and when they are wound up they become more strongly in tune with the argument than the subject.
Sometimes I think the vehemence is with the best intentions, but degenerates, which is very sad because the debates can be illuminating.
On the other hand they may just be rude, arrogant and classless. I most admire the people who frame their views (whether the same as mine or not) with courtesy or humour and have found that whther I think they are right or not their opinions make me challenge my own, and often revise my own. Its quite possible to agree with somethings and not others, its also possible to disagree with almost everything someone says but appreciate the reasoning behind it and admire the person. That is very often forgotten in these threads.
There are some horrid posters, but there are also some who take the time to back up their arguements or explain to dopes like me when I ask questions. They don't get enough recognition when it gets heated. ;0)0 -
Works for me that phrase, "What goes around comes around." In my mind it changes to "You'll get yours." ...........But I'm too polite to say that to people, especially the boss at work!0

While I agree that this is never a need for insults or smugness, it does have to be said that while HPI was rampant there were never too many kind words spared for those looking to get on the housing ladder.
The economy going down the pan is not a great position for any of us to be in and I'm sure some of the comments are born out of a lack of knowledge of how much this could affect them.Keep the right company because life's a limited business.0 -

I hope the OP eventually goes 'heads up', certainly.
but there's another group lurking here that you haven't mentioned.
that's the group that has spent the last year in corporal wilson mode and telling all not to panic, precisely at the point when ftb'ers should've at least taken a defensive position.
spurred on by VI, they contributed nothing to the debate.
irresponsible posting or what - to the ftber's?
I don't subscribe to the HPC posters ( and there's nothing smug about me), who love the idea of 60% drops in order to swoop in to profit.
as I've said in the past: back to realistic HP's.
ignore the morons who try to protect their btl's and the idiots who can afford to wait until the chance arrives to enrich themselves.
I have a personal agenda: I want my kids to be able to buy their own pads,
