Why are some people on here being so nasty?

Modagon Users Knitting Circle strikes again! Do some people only go on the internet to post on one forum on MSE?A house isn't a home without a cat.
Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.
It's a recession when your neighbour loses his job; it's a depression when you lose yours.0 -
Not sure about nastiness. I have been a house price bear for maybe 8 years or more. I have no vested interest apart from wanting to buy a small bungalow for retirement, smaller than where I live now but rather more expensive.
I am (here I go again) most likely a lot older than many posters here. Since the start of the decade I have felt very uncomfortable with two issues. Firstly house prices and secondly the amount of other debt people have brought on themselves.
I certainly wouldn`t take glee in anyone loosing their homes. I was afraid of loosing mine in the early 90`s. I also have warned people to keep a grip on the real relationship of money, do not buy what you cannot afford. I have been hard on some buying on interest only mortgages without any payment vehicle and even harder toward b-t-l wallers that buy on some ponzi styled mortgage.
Personally I would rather not post on threads that say something along the lines of ``I have 6 b-t-l properties and I am loosing a packet.
Sadly this is the end. It`s all going to be tough from here on in due to various things.0 -

If people have nothing constuctive or sympathetic to offer those people who are currently loosing sleep, worrying, feeling depressed and upset because they are facing real financial trouble at the moment then they would be better posting no reply at all.
There is alot of bad feeling towards buy to let investors, but please remember that there are alot of people out there who struggled to buy their only home in the last year or so, work hard, saved hard, did nothing wrong, and are now up the creek without a paddle.
They need sympathy and support, not cruel wisecracks and smugness from those of you who are fortunate enought not to be in this unhappy situation.
Don't take it personally, what's the worst that can happen ? B.ugger em and give them the keys back, walk away and rent for a few years. If they chase you for the difference tell them to do their best.0 -

But I didn't understand the reference to the MUKC.
But your response indicates to me that it was a bad posting?
I can't knit. And not sure what mogadon is except "drugs, dirty drugs"0 -

He / She implies that some on this thread are dull, groggy and are boring...as knitting is the sort of hobby that takes time to deliver anything ...and then, a small bit of knitting.
Not a hobby like sky diving...zany, fun, exciting.0 -
Mogadon is an old 60's sleeping pill / anti depressant I think...makes you groggy....doesn't match up with a knitting hobby...got to be on the ball to knit well.

Knitting: safe, dependable, follow instructions and you get the correct end result.
Skydiving: risky, dangerous, anything can happen.
You know which I'd pick.0 -

I could have bought a house anytime in the last 6 years but I didn't because it would have meant taking on (to me) an unacceptable amount of debt...why then should I feel sympathy for people who bought something they cannot really afford.
Why are houses perceived differently from other things ? if you hear of someone who bought a car or a big plasma tv and can't afford the repayments and the loan company come and take it back, you think...they shouldn't have got it then. I doubt you would have any sympathy for them.
I agree with you that some posters are offensive but this applies to both the HPI'ers and HPC'ers equally and as in life you get all sorts.
If you really want offensive go the the GHPC site, that IS offensive...I nearly fainted..I wouldn't DARE to venture a post on there. On here there are some very informative and intelligent posters a few loonies and a few that seem to think owning a property is their RIGHT even though they're only 20 and in their first job.
Most sensible people do not want to see other people suffer but in every situation there are winners and losers and sometimes people bring it on themselves.......it was not COMPULSORY to buy a house at any cost.

Perhaps that what was the OP was getting at. Respect the fact that people are different personality types too.
Funny really, I am a Zappy, Zany, Risk taking, chasing my tail blonde in Real Life Land. In Internet Land, I must be someone else entirely.
