hey guys
i was also duped by wessex teak many many months ago. lovely people that they are....
anyway, i am sure that watchdog are already working their magic.
wessex teak had better start telling the truth, my guess is that their calls are being recorded - ooops!0 -
Incidentally, if anyone fancies joining the gang in September at Birmingham NEC, i think it would make for a fun day out. Cucumber sandwiches and a megaphone anyone?
Andrew Smith, see you in Birmingham...!0 -
Pretty sure that you have to inform the other party that you're recording if you want it to be admissible.0

I have now contacted watchdop and put a claim in via the small claims court!
Will see what happens, fingers cross we get a result!0 -
How have you gone about putting in a claim at the courts?? I've sent them one last letter last week giving 7 days even though i know they won't respond, I read somewhere that you have to give them chances before going straight for the courts so hopefully I have given them enough!!! How much does it cost to take them to court????
Cheers0 -
I too was caught out by Wessex Teak but over a year ago. I paid in May 07 for a table and chairs and the listing said between 7 & 45 days. Needless to say my delivery date was given near to the 45 day mark and then delayed. I did eventually get my furniture in October 07 but in the meantime ebay & paypal did absolutely nothing as 60 days had passed.
Last summer Wessex teak were selling 100's of these sets every day. Some people were lucky and paid a good price but some were in excess of £500. Every day I would see the odd one or two people leave good feedback but there was always loads of negitave that more often than not was retracted the following day. There is no way that ebay were not fully aware of what was going on then but did nothing about it. Basically they dont care. They are making a fortune in ebay and paypal fees so whatever they claim they really dont care as long as they gert their cut.
Perhaps we should think about a boycott of ebay. Its about time that we all wake up to the fact that we are paying way over the odds for second hand goods on ebay. Its so easy to get carried away at the end of an auction and things quite often go for as much and sometimes more than new would cost. Get your local paper and check out the free adds. Go to car boot sales. The stuff is much much cheaper or better still join you local freecycle group were poeple give things they no longer need for free. As for new stuff, theres no such thing as a free lunch. You can occasionally get a bargain but more often than not its either inferior quality or you are dealing with sharks like Wessex Teak. There are some genuine sellers on ebay and I appologise to them but there are much better ways to shop online with a little bit of research.
In the meantime, I hope those of you still waiting get your furniture. They do seem to come up with the goods at some point.0 -
Not wanting to be 'risky' and buy from the over promising underdelivering companies on ebay I bought direct from Wessex Teak, via creditcard, hoping this protection was far more useful than paypal etc.
As with most of you, when I called to double check a rough time of delivery (about lunchtime the day it should arrive) I was transferred to the same 'Paul' mentioned here. Turns out they didnt have what I had paid for.....tried to upsell me to something I didnt want.
However Bernard and subsequently an abusive and aggresive Mark promised to resolve.
Did receive goods (not what I ordered and paid for plus faulty) after a lot of calls but believe this was due to my ultimate promise was that I would visit for my refund...I dont live too far away.
I have on very good authority (wont disclose for fear of repercussions for that individual) that there are far more complaints than happy customers.
The irony is that stuff from Indonesia is OK, shame these lot of 'poor mans market traders' are in the way.
And by the way, if you are posting on here (Wessex 'barrow boy' Teak) to salvage any sort of reputation then may I suggest you invest the same amount of time and effort actually doing the job in the first instance.0 -
