T-Mobile price increase for 08xx numbers

Well just got off the phone to T-Mobile.
The short of it is they class 08** numbers as premium and as such outside of your calling plan and any increase in charges to these numbers is outside of your contract/calling plan therefore not a change in your contracts terms and conditions.
So they wouldn't let me terminate my contract based on the increase in these charges to 08** numbers.0 -
i thought this but my dinner hour ran out so didnt have time to query this anymore but i checked the terms and conditions and it doesnt mention premium numbers from what i have read just the thing about changing the RPI0

I may call them anyway and see what happens!HUKD Sucks!0

i checked on the website and it shows that 08 numbers are part of the price plan as is voicemail, its just not included in the inclusive minutes. Doesnt that still make it a increse in the price plan0

Well I had a similar price increase when I was with O2 and that's how I got out of that contract. I don't mind my current contract too much but at £42 a month it's very expensive (and there are more competitive deals around!).
I might have a go later, a suggestion that's helped me in the past is if you at first don't succeed, phone back and get a different rep, it's amazing how much comes down to personal choice.
Also, O2 said that they only allow you to cancel if you use the numbers frequently which I pretty much don't.
I'll try and get back to you guys.0 -
Ok, phoned up and spoke to a friendly guy called Ian. He said he would expect it to be free of charge but looked up the policy on their internal thing and it says under cancellation explicitly that they are not a free charge, since in the contract it says (I'm trying to remember) that 08xx numbers are outside of your contracted allowance and so charged at a 'premium rate' (i.e. on top of your bill) and these are subject to change i.e. they've put a get-out in the contract.
You might be able to dispute it but tbh I just wanted to get out of my contract early, it's not a terribly bad deal I've got, just a bit expensive. Honest guy I spoke too as well who was very sympathetic and said it was the first time he'd read up on it and he would have assumed as well that I'd be exempt from the cancellation charges, but because 08xx numbers fall outside of your contract... hands are tied.

I would say that the calls are within the contract - by agreeing to the contract you also agree to the charges of calls not within the contracted allowance (ie, 10p for all tariffs at present) - however, by increasing the costs they are clearly showing a difference between contract costs and hence you are agreeing to a specific call cost for 08x numbers as part of that contract which I would consider to be significant to this - as it's no longer a premium number across the board and the charging is specific to your contract type.0

They do appear to have changed the wording in their T&C for v55, which took effect from March 2008. I believe if you connected before then you should be covered by v52, which does not have that stipulation.
I'd say they're on shaky ground in v55, though. I can't see where they explicitly define 08xx numbers as "premium rate" and "premium rate" as an "additional service" or anything like that.0 -
You would have to go higher up though, because from what the guy told me on the phone there are guidance notes specifically about cancelling with the 08xx numbers that you still pay cancellation charges, so the guy you first speak to isn't going to be able to circumvent those charges...0

Might be tricky, they made it public about changing T&C. Maybe this was all planned to stop people cancelling?0
