Doh! Sorry was writing a letter at the same time I did in fact mean connected!

He does have his own credit rating but it will be affected to a certain degree by you. So he may have no problem getting another card with just him but a new mortgage could be harder.

YOu still can get an OK ish deal but do you want to be in that mortgage room with an advisor when your husband finds out why he can't get a mainstream deal and how will you both feel if the truth came out then?

It is your personal unsecured debt and your choice but its a biggie keeping it a secret and how would he feel if he found out just before you went to court or like above when you next apply for a mortgage.

Its definately worth some consideration telling him, is there a big reason you don't want him to know?

Hiya,

Theres no big reason accept that he has always thought im better and handeling money etc, Im just going to leave it till i have to tell him (When we remortgage in 3 years, by then i should be half way through my DMP so my balance should be dramatically less...

Thanks for the advice, i know you are right, just being a chicken...!!!

It's me I worry! It is completely your business and you appreciate the impact it could have so the rest is down to you. Its not a case of being a chicken its hard in relationships to tell people "big" stuff.

Doing this alone is very brave so you are not allowed to call yourself fowl names ;)

... and if he just happens to check his credit file in the meantime... or applies for finance of any kind... ???

It's your decision but if that happened to me and I found out by accident - especially at the point of applying for something - I'd feel very hurt and betrayed. I would also think "if she can hide this from me, what other secrets does she have"

Really think you're making a HUGE mistake not telling him.

I've got to agree. The fact that you're entering a DMP shows that you are in control of your finances. I know my fiance is glad to hear that I am making moves to sort out my debt problem. Up to you but just imagine how you'd feel if it were the other way around. And I think you would feel much better to get it off your shoulders.

• Hi everyone

Have been a wuss and following your words of wisdom from afar but finally want to become official! Please may I have a #.

Have been on DMP with CCCS since the end of Jan and have my first review this eve so fingers crossed that all will be OK. Have not told any friends or family about my disasterous debts but you guys have been a lifeline in helping me realise I'm not the only one to have got into this situation. Long may it continue.

Hi Everyone, Me again,

Following on from my moan on Monday where I said that I had to cancel this weeks standing order to Payplan, I have taken your advice on board and got in touch with them the same day that I was told to by all my fellow DMP firends !. Today Lisa ( our contact ) has looked at our increased outgoings and decreased earnings and said that we can cut back to paying £250 rather than the £370 we were struggling with. Of course, our creditors may throw it back in our face but what option do we have. I have sat down with DH last night and re-written our outgoings and sent them to Payplan and they have come back asking what we feel we could comfortably afford and I said £250 to be honest.

I feel that I am stuck now. Yes it will take longer to clear the DMP but should we consider an IVA. If we had done that 18 months ago we would only have three and a half years left on it and it would all have been cleared.

Oh I don't know, when we started the DMP you feel in control after being out of control for so long and I remember the feeling of elation when it all came through. We have never missed any payments and always paid on time but as DH is in the Building industry, his wages have halved literally and we have really had to tighten our belts even more and it is hurting big time.

I am just so worried now and don't know if I can take the Creditors being dictorial to us all over again. To be honest, I know HSBC are going to play up as we have about £20,000 with them and they were always difficult but at least they are getting some money at the end of the day !

Oh listen to me, negative, negative, negative. Sorry Guys. Been a tough week so far and it ain't getting much better.

If you own your own home then I always think a DMP is for the better. I am not talking about being the ideal solution on paper but I just think with the heart.

My house is erm yes well not the ritz but we have slaved to keep it and no credit company is going to get a peice of it. From what I have read don't you have to sign some equity over on an IVA, also they often do run longer than the 5 years.

So yes a DMP maybe a bit of a bigger slog and longer but at the end of the day you have your own home.

I understand you feeling negative, I see the news every day and feel a bit fed up and apprehensive about the future then I put it into perspective. My credit history is already erm damaged somewhat so if it gets hard I lower my DMP payments, there are some out there with perfect credit histories who will have to face bigger decisions and I don't envy them.

I have friends selling their house in order to keep their lifestyle up so on paper people are better off than me but facing things I would rather not have to being this side of a DMP decision.

Did that make any sense to anyone?

Please imagine a half dozen or so expletives here......
@@@@@****!!!!

And a few more here
!!!£$$$@@££!!!

***king CCCS have really ballsed things up for me.

When I realised a few weeks ago that their method of apportionment didn't suit what I wanted (and wasn't as I was led to believe) AND that they had a few figures wrong anyway, I told them to STOP. Hold off, don't send anything to my creditors. They agreed. A chap I spoke to weeks ago said nothing had gone out to my creditors and that nothing would go out. As I say, this was a few weeks ago.

Recently, I decided on a DIY DMP and sent my letters off at the end of June and have been waiting for responses...

I got a letter at the weekend from HFC saying so long as I paid £xx per month, they would play nice and suspend interest and charges. Their figure of £xx was about £10 higher than my apportionment offered them. I figured they were trying it on.

I called them yesterday and they said that the figure of £xx came from CCCS and that, having accepted it, they would take a dim view of being offered an even lower amount.

I called Egg today and got the same story. (they too have suspended interest and charges)

CCCS has written to all my creditors, even though I told them not to and they told me I was in time to stop them from sending out letters.

Lloyds phoned the home number a couple of times on Saturday (2 calls within 5 minutes and both calls abandoned by them when I answered) and again yesterday. Yesterday, they were told to do it in writing as instructed - end of call!

On the plus side, MBNA have stopped RMA from calling and they have accepted the amount I have offered.

Gawd knows when Lloyds will respond in any meaningful way!

More expletives here!!!!

Lloyds will never respond in a meaningful way ;)

What a !!!####$$$$$$ I didn't know where to find all those bits on the keyboard.

Have you thought what you are going to do re the ones that have accepted CCCS agreement?
