Well done Kelly,
just thought i'd note down a few things i've done so far to help me see how far i've come,
Cut down ntl from £45 per month to £30.
Started living to a strict budget and haven't used a credit card since christmas.
Sorted out all my paperwork and not just ignored letters coming through the door.
Set up a paypal account on ebay so i can start to sell my unwanted stuff.
Wow thats loads more than i thought!
LOL

Thanks for starting the thread Kelly.
Mine starts in March too. I'm making my first payment tomorrow.
My efforts so far:
Joined quidco - have earned £15.21 by doing the clicks
Applied for AQA - haven't heard back:eek:
Have changed my shopping habits - going to a butchers and greengrocers once a week and not M&S virtually every day
Have managed to find cheaper car and house insurance on quidco with cashback
Next Steps
Drawing out cash on a weekly basis and not using cards
Going to buy stardrops for cleaning
Join more cashback sites0 -
have started using money jars.
Take out money for month and allocate it into pots, food, petrol, DD's stuff etc.
once the money's gone its gone!
£150 for feb and still got £18 left - it is nearly march isn't it???

Can I join please?!
Great tips guys. I didn't realise I could do clicks on Quidco, thought you had to spend money on products to get the benefits (but got no money to buy them with!).
I'd love to offer some of my tips, but not sure if I have any, just really obviously stuff!
- started cooking big sized meals, e.g. lasagne, to last me a few days (cheaper than individual ready meals)
- £2 coin saving pot
- shopping at ALDI for most of my groceries instead of Tesco/Sainbury's
- gave up my gym membership and joined a walking group instead
[looking for a cheap place to buy a trampoline - anyone?!]
- started a Friday night "dinner at x's house" routine with my mates. Homemade meal and cheap bottle of wine less costly than nights out.
- selling my upcoming gig/sports tickets on ebay(
- Told everyone I know that I'm skint so they understand if I can't do something and they don't tempt me to go shopping etc.
- going to start using a library instead of buying novels. Ask to borrow friends' and families' dvds instead of buying or renting them.
Keep me updated on how it goes - I'm worried about all the phonecalls and letters starting. Good luck :beer:Member #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

Welcome Smilealot
I'm worried too about calls,
letters etc but i don't suppose there is very much we can do at the mo!
I have just made my first payment to CCCS and my DMP starts 1st march.
I'm sure we all feel really apprehensive about what is gonna happen but we just need to stay strong ! we've made the first big step by trying to sort out
our debts and there is always someone on this site to talk to if you need them!
Good Luck and welcome!!!

Hi
Thanks for starting the thread- hopefully, as time goes on, those who are thinking about/starting their DMP in the months to come can also find lots of info from us?
I've been busy this year
DMP starts 1st March, making first payment tomorrow.
See sig for debts!!
joined the Olympic Challenge to save up extra money to pay off the 'smaller' debts! Going quite well
Have a menu plan & shopping list. Shop at tesco but also Lidl and look out for BOGOF etc in shops near me of the things I buy regularly.
Send off for all the freebies I can so that i get the money off tokens - saved £8 on last shop at tesco through this.
Joined Pigsback, freefivers to do clickthroughs to slowly work up to vouchers - just put 2 vouchers on Ebay from this.
Ebaying like crazy, slowing slightly but off to my mum's this weekend to help her 'sort' stuff!:)
Trying to cut back (hard when return from extra work to find OH unloading the &*^%$ tumble dryer!) and one mobile will go in June, Gym in August etc.
Looking forward to reading everyone's experiences - so far, HSBC CC have accepted payments for 3 months and frozen account, on condition that payments will rise (they will due to paying off student loan). Barclaycard have accepted for time being and frozen account as I'm dealing with CCCSNot heard from others (2x HSBC, Citibank, Egg & Liverpool Victoria Loan).
