Umm yes and no really. It was a bit of a fight with a couple of the creditors and so far they've only agreed to six months and then a review but with any luck they'll continue it on with a lump payment which is a maturing savers account.
I quite enjoy messing around with figures so I don't mind the work, I think I was an accountant in another life :rotfl:No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Hi
we start officially on 1st March and its also DIY. I have found it OK to be honest - contacted everybody involved (7 credit cards, 2 loans, mortgage, store card, unauthorised overdraft (completely made up of bank charges! ) all in arrears. Our letters and phone calls have now stopped - such a relief.
The reason we are doing it ourselves is that we are very lucky to have a good income (approximately 60k) but we do have 4 children aged between 4 and 13. I am self employed as a sales rep (contracted to 1 company) so the more sales I make - the more money I make. Both of us (DH) work weekend evenings as self employed musicians too.
As well as the DMP I am doing quidco and pigsback clickthroughs, saving on Woolworths club for Christmas, have switched electricity and gas suppliers saving £180 per year. Generally cutting down on all costs and also losing weight - what a bonus!
Have written to all credit cards and bank accounts using MSE's template asking for all our charges. I reckon - and it is just a guestimate - we should be owed in the region of £10k.
Has anyone used Microsoft Money? Its a really good tool for budgeting and working out exactly whats coming in and going out and what to pay first etc.
I think it comes as standard on XPLBM 22nd February 2007 - Amount in debt £72,242.23:confused: one month on  £63,900;) 2nd month 60,000.09

hello

I'm a secret debtor (mines a long story previous threads tell it all) - no one knows but mse - but I'm proud to be dealing with it. I'm about £29,000:eek: but all being well aiming for debt free in 7.5 years!! I should have graduated by then - I'm a mature (42  ) student doing a BAhons.
Nice to meet everyone - looking forward to a long and happy friendship

I'm now just waiting to get the go ahead from CCCS after having sent all my forms back and letters to the creditors. Fingers crossed, the DMP starts in March.
It's both exciting and nerve-racking, but like all of you I think, I needed to get a hold of what was happening, or else I'd be in a worse state than now.
The only bank company I'm fearful of getting trouble from is my loan from HFC - they're partly the reason for my overstretching myself, inasmuch as I was too weak at the time to tell them 'NO' when they offered me a loan.
But, it's done, I can't change things, so you get on and deal with it...
For the last couple of months, I've looked at money in a very different way!
Good luck all.Chuffed to be member 11 on the DMP mutual support thread.
