I think the point that andytwonames is making is that you are betraying your partner by not telling him, not the fact that it doesn't affect him so he doesn't need to know, just the fact that you are meant to trust each other. It's completely up to you but most of us probably agree that you should tell him and would propbably feel better for it.

What if in a few years you want to apply for a joint remortgage and get declined for a mainstream deal. Won't he want to know why and be upset with you for not telling him?

There is a bit on your credit histories that says who you are connected to - we did one for my hubby and he was annoyed that it flagged his mother up in red. Irrelevant now but it is possible he could see that your history is affecting him.0

We already have a mortgage together, its fixed for another 3 years, thats why i would rather do all i can in my power to sort my finances out so that by then i should only have a year or so (PP have predicted) left on my DMP.
I have seen on the board that a few people have remortgaged on a DMP and although it is slightly higher its not frantically high, also if you pay on time for 2 years they will give you the high street rate.
I know you are right but i just feel that he doesnt need to know right now, id much rather tell him when i need to...

I know that you can get a mortgage on a DMP just thought he'd be a bit annoyed if he finds out in 3 years about your adverse credit when you could tell him way in advance. You've made your choice though so good luck to you.

You can get good deals I did but previous to that I sat in the Halifax with my husband and was treated like dirt, the woman did a quick check and said you failed the search can't even get our other company to give you a deal. She told us it was a catalogue with late payments that was the problem. I felt awful both me and hubby are on a DMP together so he knows but for me to know that it was my catalogue felt bad.
Then we were ran out of the place as fast as possible and felt like lepers. Hubby never blamed me he was more upset at how they had treated we had warned them on the phone but companies still "like to try".0 -
Am bloody annoyed but own fault!
Having frantically got all my money out of bank this month and cancelled dd's for the latter half of the month, was going to do one's beginning of this month this week as they were all priority bills .......I sent off to open a basic b/a with N/Wide, had letter today i did not tick box to say if I were bankrupt, so guess what the idiots did....binned the form!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......could they not bloody call and ask if I were or not. I now have to go to the branch and get another form, then wait another 10 days to hear if I have been accepted for an account.....which does not help me at all.
I now have cancelled d/d's, most of which are now writing saying, hey your bank tells us you have cancelled d/d what's your new account details......none at this present time.....grrrrr...am now going to be way to late to tell work do not pay wages at end of month into normal account, along with other stuff.....so that will be going in old account......where I have 3 big debts! So far I don't think bank is aware of a problem as I paid them what they wanted this month just incase this happened.
Also, as now not sent off DMP papers to CCCS, figure that payments will now start 1 of September if I get papers back soon.
As I have cc's due now, do I send token payments this month and next....July and Aug....with the CCCS template letter informing them that they will then be paying them from Septmeber?
If it could all go wrong, I knew it bloody would.
trouble is really need to open the N/W account....my rent goes out before I get paid 6 days before and have always used my o/d to cover it.....L/L wont budge on date in which he wants it leave my account, even though he knows when I get paid, can't explain my money worries with him as I have signed an agreement to say I won't be doing what I am now doint otherwise I will be evicted.
As you are not allowed an overdraft is there any other way I can pay rent that is not s/o or dd that will go into someone else account in another bank within two days of it being taken out of my account? Am desparate as do not have the funds to be able to pay up front without the assistance of an overdraft!
Still could get turned down for N/W account...am still going to get new form tomorrow and send it off Monday....idiots never sent back my original paperwork so have to wait on that and hope they sort it soon...any ideas on accounts but only if they can transfer money to another bank quickly....very quickly.
Grrrrr what a mess up. Have no idea what money I have and dont have and whats going where and how I am going to now pay rent.
Why could the building society not just ring?0 -
Pinksparkle.....
I understand your fears. I have just had to tell my partner about my debts and how I am having to do a plan so I am paying only one monthly fee and I don't live with him. I thought it only fair and right. I have gone from lavish days out and spending and lovely branded food to not being able to do anything.
I told him my problem.....debts....told him how I intended to deal with it..... plan....and also told him that though we did not live together at this time (as we had started to talk about it!) I would still like to, however, it was going to take me years and years to pay back and that I would never get credit again let alone a mortgage. I said don't judge me, xyz has happened plus I don't really think my spending through all I ask is for your support through this....to be honest he said nothing was going to change between us nor was his feelings relief. OK so you live with the bloke....so did I when I lived with my ex. I had to tell him......I knew I could not keep it a secret....I cried and said I had something to tell him and that I had been really stupid and was so sorry as I did not mean for things to get where they had......he looked really worried and upset, I said I am in debt....he said, oh, bloody hell thought you were going to say you were having an affair or leaving me!
Honeslty, you have to say something. What if he were hiding it from you? I know it is your life and your choice but to hear it now than 3 years down the line will be a lot easier to deal with. OF course he will probably be annoyed and angry but if you tell him, look I know I should have come to you but I wanted you to see I was taking responsibility for my actions and am dealing with it this way....plan...single monthly payment. I bet you will be suprised by him.
Have another think about telling him. I would hate for someone to discover later rather than sooner.0 -
AMW,
I called Co-Op to open a bank account with them. My credit is shockingly bad but they did the app. over the phone and said i would know in a few days then they sent me a letter saying i was accepted and my card was on the way.
seems much quicker than messing round going to a branch.

Rang Natwest.....they can do it over phone or over net....however, they have said it will take/allow four working days for money to go from my acc into L/L... :-(
I don't have the money to do that now up front like I was, as I said it came from o/d. The L/L stance on it, is, that if the date I get paid on falls on a Sat....by the time the money is collected on the Monday and hits their account it falls past the 1st of the month. Grrrrr. How annoying. Could really kick N/W, if you were applying for a current account with them, they would have called and asked any questions they needed too. So why get treat differently because of basic account.
Will have to get form tomorrow, wait for the idiots to send documents back and then send off again next week and hope. It's my ideal bank as they can do internal transfer, same day clearance, hence wanting to go with them so badly.
Thanks for info though, at least know who else to try if this fails.0
