  • should i get a sat nav and wait a year before paying for subscription? as the map is '08, i dont expect that many roads come and go in a year.
www.halfords.co.uk had a sat nav sale on yesterday couldnt move for people getting them half price.
  • Hi,

I'm looking for a sat nav for the UK and europe. One that I can update the maps. I have got an iphone and have read that sat nav companies are looking to produce apps for it. But I guess this will take a while.

How easy is it to upload better mapping software to the navigo? How much money would I save rather than getting a Garmin or Tom Tom?

    Thanks

  • Beware the Sony NV-U82 Sat Nav it works well, but mine is less than a year old and have already had problems with out of date maps- to update the only option avaliable is an online map update at £104 - all the saving eaten up - buy one with free online updates!

Navigo 3.5" Version2 now further reduced on Ebuyer to £55.27.

  • ....but for £55 for the Navigo with any software I wish to use, I'm very tempted. It's a lot cheaper than buying a load of A-Zs, and easier than printing pages from Googlemaps at work, which is my usual approach!

However.... can I get a GPS adapter (USB?) cheaply? I'm looking at buying a laptop so that I can download and play tunes via Wifi from my home network in a jiffy, and use in my car. If so, I probably won't bother with satnav.

    EDIT:

Found em, Amazon have them under "GPS Receiver" starting from about £15, with 5* rated units priced from £22

    EDIT:

Hmmmm Palm PDA for £75... plus £30 for GPS receiver.... I assume that will run TomTom and play music.... I have some thinking to do!
  • I can't see any mention of this model on this thread but the GoPal® PNA315 Navigation System MD96197 on https://www.medionshop.co.uk/ is only £44.99 with delivery at £2.99. Has a Sirf III chipset and runs Windows CE.
