The link in the article " sat nav on your mobile " is incorrect.

TT5 was replaced with tomtom navigator that does PDAs and some phones.

On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.
  • amazon seems to be the cheapest today at least on the tom tom V3 uk £91 with free delivery. anyone got this one? I prefer tom tom's from the little i've used them, and wanted to buy one for my directionally-challenged mother- is this a good basic model? thanks!

I've just downloaded Google Maps and got it working on a PDA. Maps and routes are updated over the net, so you need a flat rate data tariff, but otherwise it's totally free. It works with GPS and/or your mobile cell signal to work out where you are. What I don't know yet is how well it tracks you as you follow a route you have set - e.g. does it recalculate when you take a different route to the one it suggests.
Don't think it saves routes taken either, which is a shame as I have the phone with me when I'm out cycling and would love to see my route after I've done it... maybe I'll have to save up for the Garmin...

anyone seen a cheap bluetooth sat nav ? need to be able to make and receive calls for work.

The HP ipaq 314 for £125 from the BT shop or Dabs, you can then claim £30 cashback from HP. Storming deal for £100!!! Having said that there are a few comments with regard to how loud the speaker is, or not as the case maybe, worth checking. You can also get the Garmin NUVI 310 and the MIO C510e for £120, they both have bluetooth.

    Hi.
I'm after a motorbike sat nav. Pref a garmin zumo 550 or Tomtom rider with Europe maps. it MUST have bluetooth though as dont want trailing wires and not keen on having it in sight. If I need to use it, I can listen to the directions via blue tooth.
    Looking to pay £160 tops.
Any other blue tooth with POI and speedcameras considered providing it has a long battery life.
    Suggestions please

Mate, what I used to use when I was in the UK, I had a 3 mobile (so I had unlimited data) and I used a little Holux GPSlim 236 (about 30-40 pounds), and used that over bluetooth on my mobile phone with the free mobile software Nav4All, It worked brilliantly and as it's live data online its pretty well up to date. The only thing is of course if you want to hear the directions you will need to have headphones connected to your mobile phone, but if you already have a bluetooth headset this will sort the problem out straight away,

    ----Resources:

Nav4All official site: (download the software for your mobile here)

Obvioulsy you can fine the gps dobewhacker on ebay or other places online

I bought a TomTom ONE 3rd edition a few months ago, when Tesco was doing a good deal. Had no probs with it so far. Today I bought, from ASDA, a Targus Small Leather Camera Case for £3.99. It's a perfect fit for my TomTom ONE.

Edit: Just found this link on an email from BT.

TomTom GO 510 (refurbished), 3 month warranty - £99.99. Don't know how that compares with a new one.

However I am saving up already for my new Sat Nav when it's available in the UK:j
