I'm an extremely light telephone user thanks to Skype and a FREE line rental + 500 minutes a month '3' mobile phone contract through TheMobileOutlet.com. My average monthly bill for landline calls is under 50p, through 1899 and One Tel as CPS, but I'm still paying my £10.50 a month line rental to BT.
I'm interested in the Post Office £50 cash back offer, but I'm unsure whether to swap line rental to another supplier. This is because the general consensus when I last looked at this (over a year ago), advised caution against swapping from BT. I can't remember the reasons why now, but I suspect it was because it was a relatively new thing and nobody was quite sure how smooth (or not) the line rental swapping process would be?
So does anyone now have any experience of swapping suppliers for line rental?
And are you aware of any issues this may cause to my broadband supplier (I'm currently with Madasafish)?
Thanks in advance.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0 -
Heinz - sorry to be awkward but my reading of the above posts gives me the impression that Dustsucks couldn't find the Primus mobile rates, not the 18185 ones!
I apologise if I'm reading it wrong!!0 -

Hi, my parents (who don't have internet access) are thinking of changing from BT to Primus for calls after seeing that they would get free evening and weekend calls. However, someone told me, or i read here at some point, that the calls are not exactly free, but that there is a connection charge of £0.04 for every call. Can anyone confirm that this is right please, and does this also apply to Justdial (even though they are internet based).
Thanks for your help
I should also add that they are very light users, and also take advantage of 1899 (their phone number is added to my own account)
any advice on connection charges etc would be much appreciated.I have gained from advice as well as bargains here, so if I can help in any way, I am only too pleased to do so and appreciate your thanks.0 -

Calls to 01/02 numbers during Evenings and Weekends are competely free of all charge for the first 90 minutes. Then they charge 1p a minute. But you can redial and get call free for another 90 minutes.
Their is no connection charge of 4p on these free calls.
They do however have a minimum call charge of 4p for chargeable calls. eg peak.intl, and mobile but thats only on chargeable calls.
Its best to use 1899 for peak 01/02 calls and Primus for E&W.

Go on, sign 'em up for 1899 yourself so they get cheap daytime 01/02 calls too. If you pay their billl too, it'll probably costs you less than £2 a month!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
