I was having a 2 way conversation with them about the actual times for their evening and weekend calls which they were saying was different to their terms and conditions but, apart from that, zilch!

Sounds like that's what they've charged you for. :(

I have to say I'm glad I went with Primus after reading all the problems people are having with Just-Dial's CS. Primus have answered all my emails promptly and with no charge!
  • Please can anyone advise me of any cheap call providers that operate on the BULLDOG Line Rental Network cos I have tried using the numbers listed from MSE.com, but bulldog seemed to have barred using them.

    Any help much appreciated.

That is of course one of the major disadvantages in moving your line rental from BT.

What destination,s are you ringing what numbers have they barred.

Have they barred https://www.1899.com 0808 freephone access number ?

Martin has got them to set to set up a special E-Mail address for MSE users, with any queries. It is mse@just-dial.com You might want to try that.

Thanks for that, I'll give it a try.

I'll be giving them a try if I get no response from trying pricefighter's suggestion.

    Thanks.

Referring to a post some while back regarding exposing DD details by e-mail. I have received confirmation of DD by e-mail but all of the numbers are not quoted, they are asterisks and the last four numbers only.

This is normal and is done for security reasons, so your Bank Details cant be hijacked and misused.

  • No they havent barred this no...so can still use the 0808 access no, but I dont get free calls!
Do you know of any better than the 1899 access no?
  • Hi I'm a complete novice at all this, but having read up on cheapest phone providers I think I might be better off if I swopped from BT Option 3 to BT Option 1, then used Just-dialSaverLite for free evening and weekend calls to landlines, 1899 for daytime calls to landlines, and Discount dial for all calls to mobiles.

Is there anyone out there who can confirm whether this sounds right? I've found it an absolute minefield!

    Thanks a million.

Sounds about right - but, because of adverse comments on MSE in recent weeks, I'd suggest choosing Primus Saver Option 2 for your CPS instead of JDS.

Also, the Discountdial price for calls to mobiles is likely to be short-lived so signing up for 18185.co.uk (4p connection and 5p/minute during the week, 2p/minute at weekends) so you have an account ready to use when it ends might be prudent.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
