Morning all.
Stopped babys nap yesterday and kept her up late - she slept in till 6am!!!
WHOO-HO!! (sorry, shouting - especially with people about with hangovers!)
Been to Tesco already - only spent £30 and I even used some money off vouchers for items I hadn't bought! (naughty me!)
I have a question - what is Blanching? I am not getting through my veg - buying to much and can't eat it fast enough (lots for variety for kids) so I found a site that shouws you how to freeze your veg, but tells me to Blanch in boiling water
So making omlete in a bag tonight off the recipie thread and the kids are making birthday biscuits (OH 35 today!!)
Off to shower before work - still not great, but well enough to go to Tesco, so I'm well enough to earn some money!0 -
:hello:
I have a lot to do today *Being out-of-action for all those weeks means that my freezers look like they have been on a starvation diet.*
I spent some time drawing up plans of action:
- inventories of the freezer larder, store cupboard; (that didn't take long :rotfl: )
- menu plans to take into account school holidays/Christmas/birthdays/family commitments for the next couple of months
- "backbone" recipes that can be frozen and then (hopefully) served as is or turned into at least 3 other meals with little work or extra ingredients.
- shopping list
Then, it'll be all systems go!!!
I'll be jiggered by the end of it all LOL and it can't all be done in one day ... but, it'll keep me out of trouble for the next few days, that's for sure:rotfl:

Charlotte,
Blanching is the immersion of fresh vegetables in boiling water, for a minute or two before freezing. It (apparently) slows down the enzymes that could cause food to spoil (even when frozen). Bring a big pan of water to the boil, if you have a chip basket you can use that to dip veg in, otherwise just tip them in and time then drain in a sieve. Immediately cool drained veg in a big bowl cool water, then drain, cool and pack for freezing. Don't put them in the freezer until completely cold.
I've only ever frozen green beans from our allotment, but they were great!
Regards

Lovely set of smilies. As TM said - (I think it was TM and apols if it wasn't), the best way to avoid hangovers is not to drinkFailing that - drink a big glass of water before retiring to help avoid dehydration, and if you wake up in the night to visit the loo - drink again.
Good morning all, I'm going to be stuck with pottering about in the house today I reckon, miserable weather, though it might improve...

Morning All
Healh visitor coming out at 1:30, so its full steam ahead with cleaning today, but I'm up for a challenge.
Nearly didn't go to slimming world last night after not going the week before and not following the plan at all, luckily thanks to breastfeeding I stayed the same.
Really glad I went as I feel really motivated now and determined to be a stone lighter bt christmas :j so I am, sat here with a huge boul of chopped up fruit, smuthered in yogurt  gonna have pizza style toast for lunch which is 3 slices of nimble topped with chooped toms, herbs, garlic, onion, mushrooms and whatever veg I fancy with cheese on top. Tea tonight is jacket potatoes with home made colslaw, baked beans and some gammon+lots of salad.
Sorry for boring you with the details, but it helps me
baby asleep i think, so gonna try and get the H/W done.

Ive been to the gym this morning, (4th time this week..) I am suprising myself to be honest!! :A
Then had a pig of a journey into work again with the Northern line not running, grrrrr!! The same as it took forever to get home last night, and probably will tonight.....
Feeling very happy with the state of my cupboards this week, seem to have bought the right things, which have lasted all week & I havent wasted anything, trying to be organised, and have bought lunch into work ALL week!!!
A bit annoyed as Ive lost ALL of my ebay photos from my PC (problem with network), some of which I'd already taken twice, grrrr, so will have to find time to do them again. Does anyone know when the next cheapo listing day is?
Have a good day everyone, its Friday - whoo!! xx0 -
id just like to apologise for not being here first thing (4am:eek: thought there was only one 4 in a day!) if I had have been here this would not have happened
Squeaky's Home Brew was lethal and my liver thinks its been hung, drawn and quartered. Jeez hun, that stuff is Rocket fuel. (how ya feeling hun)
But what a night!
Shame about the broken heel on my fav Manolos. I don't think superglue is going to do it with a broken 6" heel
unfortunatley I was elsewhere (would appreciate that hangover cure too)
when I left squeakys it was all calm and we were having intelligent discussions - what did you do to her???????
Anyway I will endeavour to keep her where she belongs and I apologise for her appalling behaviour on this lovely thread.
BTW Racy bin the Manolos they are sooooo yesterday and brown is the new black.0 -
Good morning. I have a morning to myself this morning (very unusual) and am supposed to be doing various houseworky type things, but am on here instead.
Made DHs sandwiches with corned beef this morning, so the rest of it will find itself made into tonights dinner (shepherds pie I think)

I still havent got round to knitting any hats yet though I think I may start this weekend. I am off out to lunch with a friend today so that will mean no cooking for me tonight.:j
I was thinking about having a glass of wine but after reading Racy and Nelskis thread I think I might stick to a tomato juice!
