I have just noticed that the 1899.com website allows you to download the VoIP software and use it to call UK and some international landlines free. I don't know what the quality is like but it still beats the phone to phone idea. it also beats providers like Skype etc. I know you are all aware of the existance of VOIP with this provider, but I was not aware it was free to call all uk landlines (geographical) from VIOP for free. I will try it soon and see what it is like.

I thought about registering an 0870 number to give as my contact number to all the banks and companies. I can still keep my own home number and apparently it re-routes the calls automatically. At least then I might get something back from these parasites when they call me. Would this work? Anyone else tried that?

use dialwise to India (from landline) and its 5p/min

Expect they have capacity problems.To popular at those prices.

Yes it has less Google ads but it doesnt appear to be as up to date.

i doubt if their rates are correct. on the site for india it says 5p/minute, but when you actual visit the providers site its 7-8p/min

Do you refer say to DialAround 5p call price? checked their website, same as in comparison website which I've mentioned - some regions like [bangalore] and others are 5p, India in general 8p (I presume 'bangalore' is a region, I dont know, never been there )
Same with Telestunt, Discountdial... look closer, 1to1 copy of prices from providers lists :T

Anyhow, India its not my destination, and this little investigation just 'proved' for me that I'm using reliable service

Double drat! Topupnow have now put up their price to call Saudi. The call checker has missed out that 1899 charge 4p a minute plus a 3p connection charge, making them second cheapest.
Dialwise is the cheapest now at 3p a minute, but we never seem to be able to use it.

Perhaps someone could update the callchecker and add 1899's price.
