Removing Verruca with Duct Tape?
Comments
-
Thats great news! :j:j
I had a couple that were YEARS old, in the end i dont think ducktape did it for me, as I tried (rather dangeriously) with glycholic acid 50%, after using duct tape for several weeks. Mine were on a weightbearing areas so had gone quite deep.
I really dont know how this ductape works, but if it does then who cares!!
Sounds like your daughter was in agony, so many and spreading must have been horrid, especially at such a sensitive age in terms of self image and confidence.
Im really pleased for her, I can remember how I felt when I could see mine had 'died':)0 -
My son is suffering from this - has about 30
The nurse is freezing them on a weekly basis, but now they are causing him a lot of pain and I may stop from next week's appointment.
Also been using salicylic acid and tea tree.
We have just started the duct tape method, but with them being all over his feet, especially at the base of the toes, this is quite difficult, so I have just wrapped his whole feet in the stuff. Do you think this will be effective?
I searched online and someone recommended a Fish Spa where little fish eat off the dead skin :rotfl: and this can help alot with the pain of hard skin building up - am going to take him later this week and will update with any progress. Will try anything at this stage. Anyone ideas or further advice would be gratefully received. Thx£2012 in 2012 = £34.440 -
My son is currently using this stuff:

He has a large cluster one about he size of an old 1/2p on the side of his big toe and about 10 small ones around the toe.
Treatment is expensive but painless and easy.
He has been doing it for about 4 weeks now and there is a difference and the pain he had before treatment with the pressure of shoes has gone. He has had the verruca for about 2 years and previously tried the freezing spay and salicylic acid. The duct tape we tried but just could not get the stuff to stay in play, if just slipped down.
I'm going to order some more so he can continue the treatment and some for my other two sons who both have a couple of small ones but I want to try to get rid of them early. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
I also had a huge, painful horrible verruca for years on the pad of my foot. Tried various impregnated plasters from the doctor which did nothing at all. I did go to the school nurse one day as it was especially painful - she offered to cut it out for me (ugh) which I politely declined. Like everyone else posting in this thread I was so desperate to get rid I started sanding down (& cutting with a scalpel) the area around the verruca. It hurt so much I was wearing huge padded plasters just to walk normally. Somehow or other, by sheer bl**dy mindedness and much bloodshed, one day I realised I could pull out the horrible grey core leaving a huge hole in my foot.... Incredible! Wish to goodness I'd heard about Duct Tape, I'd certainly have givven it a try. Something I did read about at the time was using garlic taped to the verruca - I found a mention of this when I was googling just before.

Hi, thanks to both of your for your replies and ideas. These are both new to me so will consider using them soon.
I get the duct tape to stay on by covering with a bandage all round the foot and then put a sock on. Poor son is hobbling around the house at the mo looking very glum.
We are off to the fish spa tomorrow, which should clear away some of the calloused skin so I can get a better look at what is going on under all of it! I am going to treat myself to a session too to get rid of my hard skin;). Will update tomorrow.
Thx again.£2012 in 2012 = £34.440 -
i have had verruca on ball of fooot for too bloody long, have tried bazzooka, wartner, verugon, some freezing stuff, been to doctors to freeze about 5 times, ignored it for ages, tried to cut out and have had enough. Am going to chiropodist or poditryst(i think) tomorrow to have surgically removed, although nurse said this is not 100% guarranteed to come back. Anyway will let you know if this is my last day of verruca hell. Not cheap at £350.00 but if it goes itll be worth it, fingers crossed.0

Hi DaveWTGF.
Please keep me updated with your treatment, I hope it goes well and you get the result you hope for. Any information if gratefully received as I am trying to sort out my older son's feet which are both covered in the things.
We have been using the tea tree and duct tape and have been spreading savlon on too, just to keep moisturised. Well, after a week they look much better and the hard skin is coming off nicely. We went to the fish spa and the little fish took quite a lot of the dead skin off too. We all had a go and it was pretty freaky at first, but quite nice as we got used to it. Would recommend, but you need to do quite a few times to get rid of stubborn skin, imo.
We are seeing the doctor tomorrow and will take advice on whether to keep freezing, and will probably start applying the salicylic acid again, but at least we can see the verrucas now the calloused skin has gone.
Let me know how the surgery goes. Thx£2012 in 2012 = £34.440 -
Well had the surgery today. Had to have 5 injections (anasphetic) which was mostly ok, 3rd one made my eyes water a bit. Foot was well numb after this and chiropodist then began the cut, electrocute and the burn the little bleeder ( and it did alot ) anyway after an hour or so I am at the moment verrucaless. Was in a bit of pain this afternoon after foot came back to life but is fine now. Just have to keep elevated so need to waited on hand and verruca free foot. Anyway have to go back tomorrow to check foot is healing ok. Will definately be worth it all if I never see it again. Let you know how it goes.0

Gosh this thread is making me cringe, I really hope that's been successful for you.
I've got a cluster of a few on the padded skin below my big toe and the first one's been there for 5/6 years. I have also tried numerous things but haven't yet gone for duct tape as the pics I've seen the foot is literally wrapped up in it.
Do you people all agree with me that you are either prone to these things or not? I think if they were as easily spread as they keep saying then everyone would have them all over their feet surely?
At the moment I'm going for leaving them alone a while and see if that does the trick. Last stuff I tried nearly a year ago was some homeopathic stuff put on every day with a plaster over. Well then I went to Egypt for some winter sun and a plaster wouldn't stay on so I decided to halt the treatment. What resulted was that the cream had softened the skin on my joints so much that the skin split all along where I bend my big toe and I was hobbling around all week til i could get back to being able to wear socks and shoes.
What's the consensus on swimming? Wear special socks or not bother?0
