Removing Verruca with Duct Tape?

Hey, I 100% recommend the duct tape method...IT WORKS!! In fact you don't even have to use duct tape, any sort of dark tape that will stay on all day will do. Also dab a bit of tea tree oil on the verruca before you cover it up and clean it daily. It takes around 6 weeks for the verruca to 'die' but my god it is very painful!
When you first start you wont feel the pain much, but the verruca should go bubbly and cloudy white. It will start to hurt though, so much so that if it is on an area of your foot where you apply a lot of your body weight you wont be able to walk properly. However, keep going, take some painkillers as this really does help. The pain will clear up after the first few days. DO NOT be tempted to take the tape off and let the verruca get some air to relieve the pain. After 6 weeks you will find that the skin will start peeling off...cut the dead skin off with a clean pair of scissors and if you find that you can see the lines in your skin (as opposed to the big bubbles that the verruca created) you have successfully got rid of the little bleep!
GOOD LUCK...IT REALLY DOES WORK!!0 -

I agree, went to GP's to have DS warts removed after trying everything was advised to cover in Duct Tape or any Dark Tape that didn't let the light in as it's the light that encourages it to grow, did this for a few weeks and my DS is wart free.0 -
I've tried nearly all of these methods on mine, I'd had them for 10 years, they finally went when I decided to ignore them..... regret wasting a fortune on bazuca, salicylic acid, wartner etc. The doctor did try freezing them but said generally it is just time, you have to wait until your body decided to use your immune system to fight them off.
All gone now though :-)0 -
Thanks for the quick responses, i suppose after all these years i just cant believe they will ever go away !!
Im definately going to give the Tape another shot - not sure if i have any duct tape left, but i do have some dark parcel tape that should do the trick.
Could i just clarify a couple of points please
i have one big verruca and quite a few small ones, do you recommend dabbing tea tree oil on all these every day before applying the tape? or should the tape be left on all week before reapplying?
I remember with this method before, the verrucas go quite 'soft' and almost develop like little 'craters' if that makes sense, quite exciting at the time, i thought they might be going - although i didint see much development after that.

I didn't use any tea tree oil, just dark tape, maybe just try without tee tree oil first. Good Luck0

Hi Android, I don't know why the duct tape method didn't work for you last time but if you do decide to give it another shot stick to it religiously and you should get the result you're after.
In response to your questions-
Change the tape everyday after showering. Wash your foot and try to remove some of the dead skin - but you may find that the verruca is too sore to scrub over with a pumice stone. In fact you could just cut off the dead skin as you go along if scrubbing the verruca is painful. After you've washed the verruca, dry the area and dab a little tree tea oil on with a cotton bud and stick the tape directly over it. You may need to use a few layers of tape to really seal the area and not allow any air in. Leaving the tape on for more than a couple of days can result in it coming away at the edges and allowing air in.
What you saw last time was a good sign..the verruca will go a cloudy white colour and will be quite puffy. If you have any more questions feel free to PM me0 -
Thats great thankyou
Bought some 'Gaffer tape' last night from B&Q
And just picked up some tea tree oil from Boots...
Here we go again !!
Appreciate your help - will keep you updated0 -

Disappointed for you android - I was about to try this on DS1 - he has a mosaic type and the podiatrist recommened trying the duct tape. Did you keep it on all the time since your last post? The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
