The whole of the ball of his foot, and big toes were covered with them completely. Plus he had about 7 on his heel and this was on both feet too!
We were attending the nurse once a week for about two months at the local surgery to have them frozen but it was so painful for him and also with the build up of skin around them she could hardly see the core of the verucca to freeze.

I poured the tea tree into my hand and added some savlon and mixed it together (a bit messy so don't use your best sheets!). I used the savlon to stop infection his skin had started to crack and I was worried the broken skin would become infected, but I suppose you could use any moisturiser. There was a little stinging with the tea tree but he had to put up with it for a while. I then covered the whole foot with duct tape wrapping it around the top of his foot too, just don't do it too tight. You will need to cover with bandage and/or socks to stop the tape slipping off in bed. I only did it at night and took of each morning. (Also, I did leave the treatment off twice just for a break).
As the hard skin softened the black verucca was exposed - whether this was killed with the duct tape or the prior freezing, I don't know - may have been a combination of both. My son then picked them out one at a time as they came to the surface
They were gone with a week and a half.
His feet were so bad, I thought they would never go and even the nurse was surprised at the result. Today, his feet are as good as new. :T
Good luck if you decide to use the treatment.

  • I am currently trying this duct tape method after having a collection of 3 verrucas on the ball of my foot for a year now. So far, nothing has happened, but it has only been 4 days so we shall see!
  • I can confirm that the duct tape method really works. My wife has a stubborn verruca for a good 15 years. Tried Salicylic endlessly to no effect. A drop of tea tree oil and duct tape for a week and it has gone.

DH had a verucca for 10 years. We tried the duct tape method and a couple of months later it is finally gone. DH is over the moon!

He used the tea tree oil at first but in the end just used the tape. It may have taken longer because he had to change the tape every couple of days (it kept coming off in the shower).

Cheers MSE - what would I do without you!

I've had a verruca since October, bloody annoying thing. I think I finally managed to pull out the main part of it (I know I pulled a long black thing out of it - sorry, gross I know), but I'm not sure never having had one before. I managed it with duct tape, trouble is it's still slightly painful to push on it and there's still some hard skin that refuses to budge. I'm still keeping on with duct tape and tea tree oil, but does anyone have any advice on how can I shift that last little bit of it?

  • Folks,

I had a verruca for years. I actually got rid of mine using a Silver Nitrate pencil. There are plenty of brands out there so I don't really want to do any companies advertising for them!

I have started a website containing articles on different treatment methods and their efficacy. Please take a look and leave some feedback. It's independent and not-for-profit.

I'm not allowed to post a link, but suffice to say that we are an ORGANISATION in the UK and the rest is obviously our username!

    Cheers!

my dd had them for years we tried everything even freezing them to all the different creams eventually they disappeared
they say swimming has nothing to do with them but as my dd got older and gave up swimming at about age 15 we noticed they were beggining to go
  • My 6 year old daughter has some horrible looking verrucae and she says they are very painful. The foot doctor has tried to freeze them but that didn't work. Subsequently I have caught them too and they are incredibly painful. Due to my daughters age he recommended duct tape. I thought he had lost it. Anyway we started sticking ourselves this morning and I really thought he was mad. I googled it and lo and behold got back to my favourite website and this forum. Thanks for the incentive to really give it a go and hopefully in a couple of months they will all be gone.
I'm sure I went upstairs for some reason.

OK, I am also going to give it a go, I had two, got down to one with the podiatrist, but I really can't keep going, it's just too painful and right in the ball of my foot. I'll keep everyone posted!

Do u think this would also work on a callus? Ive had one on the ball of my foot for a few years. ive tried the callus remover plaster which didnt work just seemed to burn the skin around the callus. It really hard and painful at times and I usually end up cutting the excessive skin off.
