  • Is it true that if you are low on iron then you are more susceptible to veruccas?

I'm going to try duct tape and cider vinegar! Fingers crossed!!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I tried duct tape and vinegar before. I thought they may have worked... but sadly not.

More recently I went back to the simple tube of paint on stuff from the chemist (about £2). With persistance I got a layer to come off; it looked like I had succeeded. However, the little b*gger had only gone into hiding and is now sticking its tongue out at me again. I'll be perservering with this stuff though.

My hubby had a huge one on the sole of his foot - about the size of a 5p piece. It had pushed deep inside his foot and he couldnt walk on it it was so painful. He went to our doctors chryogenic clinic and had it frozen, a couple of days afterwards he used a pair of tweezers and "pulled" at each black dot.... when he got it successfully a cone shaped lump came out of his foot between 3-5mm long. In total on each tweezering session he would pull out 10-15 of these cones and it took 3 freezing sessions followed by the tweezering for it to finally go. He said pulling them out was excrutiating but he was at the end of his tether. The doctor was amazed he took this method and confirmed each "dot" and cone was 1 verrucca. We reckon he had between 30 and 40 of these cones in total which had been pushed deep into his foot, the repeat freezing slowly brought them to the surface.

Hurts like hell but had to be freezing the beggers off fo me.

Had warts on a few fingers - froze them off
Had a verruca on one of my toes - had that froze - took two freezing sessions but worked, felt it drop out one day, took my sock off and out it had come.

Dont know if its happened to anyone else - if you have cryogenic treatment on your fingers expect them to be very sensitive to knocks and the cold for a long time after treatment.

  • My daughter got a wart on her hand earlier this year and as she was only 6 I was worrying about using strong chemicals etc and burning her delicate skin. So after researching online I bought a cream called Bye Wart off amazon for £10-total rubbish, I swear it fed it as the wart seemed to double in size and became quite painful to my daughter.

I gave in and bought bazuka in the red tube, not the extra strength one, and used it 6 times over the space of 3 weeks (instructions said to use daily but I wasnt keen!!) and the wart dropped off and her skin is perfect, blemish free and unburnt. Best of all the Bazuka was £4 from superdrug-wish i'd bought that to begin with and I recommend it!!!

Thing is, warts on hands are far simpler to deal with than verruccas on the feet. I have had warts on fingers and found them as easy as anything to get rid of them. Verruccas on the feet are so difficult because they carry our weight and the verrucca almost appears to grow inwards. Had mine in excess of ten years and tried everything barring freezing at GP's(tried home treatment type which didn't work)

To get rid of mine I used the Bazuka treatment but instead of re-applying it daily which it recommends and didn't work, I softened it up after a bath/shower, rubbed it down with a nail file/emery cloth/board applied the solution and repeated this process every week. After about 3 weeks the verruca disappeared.

Two of my DSs and I have been trying the duct tape method for the last 5 weeks on our collection of verrucae on various parts of our feet/toes which have been present between 1-8 years.

Difficult to say how they are doing but covering them is reducing the amount of skin building up on top of them and hopefully stopping the contamination.

Took DS1 to the GP with his massive 8 year old one which we have tried so much stuff on but he couldn't recommend anything. Said a patient had had one surgically removed against his judgement, ended up with a big hole to heal up and the V came straight back!

I'll report back in the future if we have any success.

My GP recommended using a piece of banana skin taped to the area and changed a couple of times a day. You cut a piece of skin the size of a verruca or wart and then place a plaster over the top to keep it in place, it is the fleshy side of the skin that comes into contact with the offender.

Tried this with my kids but they complained by the end of the first day that it made the verruca painful and wouldn't continue with it.

  • Thanks for all your responses - I wouldn't wish this on anyone else but it is good to know you're not alone!!

I'm not sure if I could stand pulling each of my little black dots out - I had a go at one and it was really long and hurt loads. Gross!

Tried the duct tape with tea tree oil for 3 days and it felt as though my foot was going to fall off! It ached all the time, not just when I walked on it. At times there would be a shooting pain all through the verruca and deep into my foot. Ouchy!

We went to London for a couple of days so I took the tape off and let it breath so I could walk around with less pain. I find wearing heels unbearable but flats are ok!

Now I'm back onto the tape. I'm going through the flesh coloured medical tape (to hold the duct tape on) like nobody's business!

    Will keep you updated!
