Haier washing machines

PS the website I found helpful is called "washerhelp"; put me in touch with a good engineer, and loads of advice about the different brands.0

Haven't read the whole thread, so apologies if this link or one like it has been given elsewhere - the wise people on the UK Whitegoods site have a few choice words to say about Haier:

The picture of a floating junk made me smile... but then I haven't bought a Haier....Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -
Sorry to hear the problems people are having with Haier washing machines.
We have had a large Haier freezer and separate full-size fridge trouble free for 7 ½ years now, after wasting £600 on Bosch rubbish.
However, when I had to repair our Whirlpool washer yet again last year I fixed it and put it on freecycle. We then bought a Zanussi, - lovely machine!0 -
Emailed Argos about my Haier washer regarding the lack of spin and told them of all these faults that are occurring offered to send an engineer out ive told them i want a replacement in another make dont know if ill get any joy surely if some have smoked and sparked they could be dangerous has anyone contacted trading standards i have mentioned them briefly to Argos awaiting their reply0

Hi guys and please be gentle as this is my first post!
I too had the same problem as you all with the Haier which I bought from Comet in Sept. They repaired the machine which then proceeded to leak and flood my kitchen. They have now replaced the machine with a Zanussi and I paid the difference, not only that, they are paying to have my laminate floor to bo replaced too as I threatened to issue a summons online (yep, its easy to do). So keep at them and they will do the right thing in the end!0 -
Didn't Gormless Gordon sign a huge trade agreement with China last week ?
That means good old blighty could be flooded with millions of cheap Haier machines this year.
Just imagine .... we could have a Haier machine in every room in the house !0 -
Wish I'd see these messages before I bought one! I've had great advice from this web site in the past for other things but I forgot to check here before I bought from Argos. I decided to buy the Haier HNS1260TVE on the strength of the positive feedback on the Argos website supposedly from satisfied customers. It arrived yesterday. This morning I used it on a quick wash cycle first with just a few kids socks in it. Worked perfectly, quiet, so simple to use, lovely tune when it was finished; I felt smug and happy with my bargain-price washing machine. Next was the 60 degree cotton wash, three quarters full. As soon as the cycle began there was a loud grinding sound from the motor as if the thing was in pain. This continued for the three hours of the programme. I called Argos (what passes for) customer services and the rep eventually said she'd arrange for it to be replaced but couldn't tell me when. I used the machine today on other cycles and the grinding noise persisted and got louder along with almost no ability to spin. After seeing these and other complaints about the Haier washing machines I've demanded a refund. I'm really disappointed with Argos - their buyers must know about the faults but they also know they can sell them cheaply and quickly because people are trying to save money in these difficult times. I've decided to buy a Zanussi from John Lewis instead; £80 more but a reliable model with 2 years free warranty and free delivery... a lesson learnt. Thank you to everyone who took the time to post messages in this thread.0

I've not got a Haier washing machine, but I've got a Haier dishwasher that I bought from the Co-op and can relate to everything that's been said so far.....
With the dishwasher, bits of plastic kept breaking off the top basket and just after a year, one blocked my pump, so the darn thing stopped working. I've been having a bit of a wrangle with the Co-op (who bought it on the grey market, as when I contacted Haier directly, said that it was a model that wasn't sold in the UK) and I'm hoping to get my money back in order that I can buy a new, more reliable machine.
My DH has a phrase from his days as a salesman:
"The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of the low price is forgotten!"
Quite appropriate really0 -

The 5th, 6th and 7th engineer both said they would speak to their manager so we could get a refund, however each one kept ordering new parts.
After being calm for so long, I finally lost it on the phone after they said "An engineer will have to come out to write the machine off" - I said how many do you need, Ive had 7 come out.
After much arguing I got a refund, only for them to put it on a gift card. They had anotehr machine we wanted to buy, but as it took so long to get the refund, Comet had put it back up to its full price so we missed out. Had to settle for a relacement hoping it was just a faulty one off.
Weve had the new haier for 3 days and so far its had 2 errors flash up and now its not draining. Another fun call to comet.
Oh, And £11.37 we have spent phoning their CS
Replacement machine is now showing the same fault. It does not spin and comes up as unbalanced. Clothes come out soaking wet!
Just phoned comet and they said I would have to pay for an engineer. As soon as I mentioned the sales of goods act he said "Im not going to argue about the sales of goods act, i'll get a manager to speak to you " and then put me on hold.
He then came back and said he has emailed his supervisor who will call me back shortly to argue. He then quickly corrected himself saying "argue the case in question"
Should be an interesting call! I wasnt rude at all to start with, I jus said "under the sales of goods act my contract is with you and not haier" - this was when he tried to palm me off to haier.
As the burden of proof is now on me to prove the fault was present when I purchased it, would my last machine having the same fault and the numerous articles on the internet about this machine and fauilt be enough, or would I need to get an engineer out and then claim the fee back?
Just waiting for the phone call now!0 -
Don't be holding your breath there. A word of encouragement. Within the last month, my 72 year old mum was given a derisory offer of £50 for a holiday nightmare she had from a tour company. She wanted £300; no deal. She put in a claim through the small claims court following the advice and info from trading standards. Within one week of the claim being submitted to the court she had a cheque for £550 in her hands - full and final settlement. They really did not want the hassle of facing it in court - she had a good claim and they knew it.
Don't take too much nonsense and remember Corporal Jones' great advice:
