  • A. OCD-UK

    B. www.ocduk.org

    C. Independently working for people with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

    D. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a serious and debilitating
illness that can cause sufferers to be disadvantaged and is far from the
quirky illness that it is sometimes portrayed to be.

OCD affects children to adults - regardless of social or cultural background
and is actually listed amongst the top 10 most debilitating illnesses by the
World Health Organisation (in terms of loss of income and decreased quality
of life) and is thought to affect 2% of the UK population.

Despite this, OCD-UK gets very little funding to support people with the
illness, support including facilitating safe environments for sufferers to
communicate with each other and provide mutual understanding and support.
Working towards improving awareness of the condition with the long term aim
of campaigning to ensure that every sufferer receives the quality of
    treatment they deserve.

It is a marvellous organisation which deserves much more support.

  • A, The Lewis Prior Foundation.

    B, https://www.thelewispriorfoundation.org

c, Raising funds for terminally ill children.

D, We set up Lewis's Foundation in 2004 after we sadly lost our son Lewis Jack Prior aged two years and eight months of age. Lewis was born with a serious heart condition Hypo-Plastic-Left Heart Syndrome. There is no cure for this condition, just three stages of open heart surgery, followed by a transplant. The call we prayed so hard for never arrived and our son died in our arms in 2004.

We raise the much needed funds for The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Rainbow Children's Ward & Hope House Children's Hospice. We also help promote organ donor awareness. Being such a small charity we are always very appreciative to those who decide to support us.

It is important to us to raise as much as we can for our chosen worthy causes, but it is equally as important to us as a family to keep Lewis's name alive through his charity. He was so brave, always smiling always happy. We miss him so much we still have our really low days. But we are determined to make a big difference to children like Lewis and their families, through Lewis's charity. It helps us to keep strong whilst making a difference.

    Please consider supporting us...

    Thank you

    Karen & Colin Prior.
  • a. Sir Bobby Robson Foundation

    b. http://www.sirbobbyrobsonfoundation.org.uk/

    c. For the early detection and treatment of cancer

    d. Sir Bobby Robson has served his country and sport well, achieved accolades internationally but is still a lovely down to earth man. He is now fighting cancer for the fifth time but this time it is incurable. How does he respond? He listens to the people who treat him, realises they need financial help so begins setting himself new goals to raise money for the Freeman Hospital cancer unit in Newcastle to set up a specialist unit. Any research undertaken in the north will cascade into hospitals around the country impacting on us all. Despite feeling terrible after treatment he carries on working relentlessly, making personal appearances. What a role model from the world of football! Sir Bobby gave us some of our best years as England's manager. It is time we paid tribute to him by supporting him in his new mission.

I'd like to nominate the UK charity, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
    www.hearingdogs.org.uk
Providing assistance dogs for severely/profoundly deaf people

This UK charity trains mostly rescue and unwanted dogs to become registered assistance dogs for deaf people. The dogs alert by touching the owners knee and leading to the sound if it is safe to do so. Many people say these dogs have given back independence, confidence and companionship when the loss of hearing or hearing impairment had started to mean social isolation, family stress, employment problems and depression. The charity relies totally on public support, receiving no statutory funding and making no charge for their service. It costs over £5000 to train each dog and the charity supports both the person and the dog throughout their working lives together.

I'm a hearing dog recipient myself and can't explain enough how much of a life changing difference it makes to have one of these fabulous dogs. I just wanted to let people know that they really do make a huge difference as although the charity benefits people it doesn't get support from places such as the lottery as they are classed as an animal charity!
Thank you to all who have already clicked to support Chloe :T
  • Website address: ww.barrowdadsgroup.webeden.co.uk

offers a support network to fathers/male carers.

Barrow Dads Group develops a support network for local fathers/male carers and their children and to offer a safe environment which encourages bonding and allows both father and child to benefit from a developing relationship. This is achieved by:
Ø Offering structured activities which allow fathers to encourage their children to learn through play
    Ø Developing joint reading activities
Ø Encouraging the take up of outdoor activities
    Ø Offering community based training
    Ø Supporting dads on a ‘one-to-one’ basis
Ø Providing a ‘one stop shop’ for accessing welfare benefit, employment, housing and health advice.
Ø Developing training around budgeting and finance

The group employs three paid staff and works with over 20 volunteers all of whom have benefitted from the scheme. However, the future of the group is reliant on outside funding and resources for its continued success.

I've had a Hearing Dog for 5yrs. He's a real lifesaver. We are well known locally and do our bit to try to repay HDFDP. My dog was free, a worthy cause that you can help support with a click!

  • A. Radio Lollipop

    B. http://www.radiolollipop.org

    C. Providing care and entertainment for children in hospital.

    D. Radio Lollipop believes in the healing power of play – providing smiles and laughter to children at a time when they need it most. Our volunteers play with the children and their siblings, as well as giving them the opportunity to request songs and take part in competitions in the live radio shows. The activities give youngsters a haven of normality in the hospital day, which can be strange, different and often scary.

As well as offering a distraction to the children, the volunteers give the opportunity for the parents to take a much needed break. Parents regularly thank us for the work we do and comment on the difference in their children during a visit from our volunteers.

Radio Lollipop has no paid staff or central funding. The funds raised by our volunteers is used directly to provide play services to children in hospital.

    Radio Lollipop – SERIOUS FUN.

    Christians Against Poverty
In a day where the problem of of debt is growing at an immense rate, this body, which operates openly in the marketplace, to help anybody, without conditions or further commitment, brings urgent relief to individuals and families. It helps restore the self esteem of people in their community.
One in four of its clients have contemplated suicide. One in four of marriage break downs quote financial problems to be a major cause of their demise.
This group, which is well respected among the proffessional bodies with which it works, offers a debt management service to all freely. There is no cost to the person in need.
    Their website is :-
    www.capuk.org
I would commend the service to anyone in need, but particularly for these awards.
I am not submitting this lightly but I feel that I do have to make some comment on the post quoted. I work as a specialist adviser for CAB. The specialist team at our bureau, which does include practicing Christians, looked into working in partnership with CAP and came to the very definite conclusion that the organisation worked contrary to the priniciples of our service. Sorry folks but thems the facts. Bring on the feedback no doubt!
