I would like to nominate Care for the Family
    ( https://www.careforthefamily.org.uk )

They work with a number of groups, including:
    - divorcees
    - bereaved parents
    - single-parent families

    Thank you
  • I would like to nominate a charity Jo's Trust http://www.jotrust.co.uk
small web based charity supporting sufferers of cervical cancer.

Jo' Trust has a fantastic bulletin board where people can exchange views or receive advice and information from specialists. Although the government is now planning to vaccinate girls against the hpv virus, there are still many people suffering from cervical cancer. This small charity works hard to support them and their families.
  • a) I would like to nominate DELTA (Deaf Education through Listening and TAlking).

    b) Website is: www.deafeducation.org.uk

    c) DELTA helps deaf children to learn to talk

DELTA is a small charity and a donation would make a huge difference to them. It runs 2 summer schools annually for parents of deaf children, giving them all the information they need to help their child learn to talk. Due to shortage of funds they have had to cancel one of their summer schools so lots of parents will miss out on vital information to help their child to talk. When my son was 13 months and diagnosed as severely deaf, we did not know how to encourage him to talk and were lucky enough to go on a DELTA summer school and get all the help we needed. My son picked up language skills so quickly after the course in a fun, natural way. We are really grateful to DELTA for changing his life. He is now nearly 18 and one of the most talkative people I know!
  • I would like to nominate Signpost Stockport For Carers
    (www.signpoststockportforcarers.co.uk)

They are a small charity operating in Stockport, helping both carers and cared-fors to obtain a better quality of life.
There is a Young Carers section that look after carers aged 5 to 18, who are looking after sick parents. These kids only get one break a year, when they are taken for a weekend away by Signpost. Signpost also buy them presents at Christmas, and this is often the only present they get.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.
  • Alzheimer’s Society
    www.alzheimers.org.uk

The UK’s leading dementia care and research charity, supporting people with all types of dementia and their carers. Established 1979 and operating through a network of nearly 300 local branches.

Dementia is a cruel disease which slowly robs a person of their memory leading to confusion and dependency. Have you every thought how important memory is? Everything we are and everything we know is stored in our memory bank, to be drawn on when needed. We each have personal skills and abilities; we have our own families, cultures, experiences, values, attitudes and preferences. We take these abilities and knowledge for granted and yet without memory we would be unable to draw on any of them. For a person with dementia this is a day to reality.

Dementia is not a glamorous disease and is one that is difficult to gain support and recognition for so we hope you will consider choosing the Alzheimer’s Society as the charity you wish to support.

Building sustainable futures for people in rural Malawi

I have seen this small, Bristol based charity grow since I lived in Malawi myself in 2002. Their main aim is enable local Malawian people to become self sufficient. This is acheived by building the capacity rural communities need to drive their own development. So far they have supported communities in improving health education services, agriculture, forestry, irrigation, skills training & schools. I know the founders work very hard & for long hours & this small charity could do with employing a further part time worker here in the uk to raise their profile, which is where your money could come in handy, thanks!

  • a. The Royal Air Forces Association - registered charity number 226686
    b. http://www.rafa.org.uk/
    c. Welfare, Care & support for RAF Veterans
    d.

We should as a nation be ashamed about the way we treat our service veterans. The RAF Association (RAFA) supports all people who are or have served in the Royal Air Force. An RAF veteran can be any age from the heroes from WWII to those serving in Afghanistan and Iraq today. The welfare they provide is varied from financial and practical to emotional support. Many RAF veterans are elderly and many suffer from long term and debilitating illnesses, while others may be carers for a family member or perhaps bereaved from their loved one. Sadly many veterans die each year and leave a loved one to pick up the pieces. In this uncertain world many of the current serving RAF personnel face danger on a daily basis – How many of the RAF family will need support and care after yet more conflicts resulting in loss of life, trauma, stress and injury?

Francis House cares for children with short life expectancy. The skilled nursing and family support is second to none. I personally, cannot even begin to imagine what it must be like to lose a young child and feel that Francis House does a sterling job, providing essential breaks for parents. Their lifeline is available day or night.
    A truly worthy cause.

    4. Provide services for disabled children with cerebral palsy, ADHD, Autism etc: have daily therapy (incl physio, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy, specch and language therapy & nursery education). Provide Family support, play and youth schemes, Family Link day, night and overnight breaks. Support for stroke survivors (myself included) to access community care and retraining with a view to return to work or other activities. Have been in exisitence for 45 years and supplies a much needed service to several groups of disabled people and their families/carers in Surrey and surrounding areas. It costs a lot of money to supply these services and they have a lot of volunteers who work tirelessley.
If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.
