The Joshua Foundation
Charity Number 107365
Address - 13a Station Road
Cardiff
CF14 5LS
02920756675
web address:- www.thejoshuafoundation.co.uk
About the charity:-
The Joshua Foundation (TJF) was created in September 1998 to provide holidays and experiences for children and their families where the child is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
The Joshua Foundation was launched on September 27th 1998 with a 5 kilometre fun/walk that raised £16,000, and on January 17th 1999, a huge party at Planet Hollywood, London, saw the first gathering of children and the beginning of "TJF Experiences".
Whereas other wish organisations provide one-off experiences, the Joshua Foundation effectively 'adopts' children and their families providing them with on-going experiences and memories.
The charity takes its name from Joshua Cornelius, from Caerphilly, South Wales, who was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Round Cell Tumour of the abdomen, a terminal cancer, in December 1996 and who died on December 4th 1998, aged 7. After his diagnosis, Joshua, had to undergo intensive and aggressive chemotherapy. To offset this in his 23 months of treatment, he travelled the world - California, New York, Florida, Lapland, Israel and 4 trips to Euro Disney - living life to the full. An experience the Joshua Foundation endeavours to repeat for others.0 -
1. Nephrotic Syndrome Trust.
2. www.nstrust.co.uk
3. Research into causes/cure/treatment of Nephrotic Syndrome.
A little known condition affecting the lives of 10,000 sufferers in UK alone.
The childhood form of nephrotic syndrome often occurs around the age of 2-3 of age with no known cause. The condition whereby the kidneys leak protein into the urine, causes the body to retain water and swell. The treatment at present are steroids or Highly toxic immunosuppressents which can cause devastating complications such as diabetis brittle bones and high blood pressure, but ultimately kidney failure if the drugs are not effective. Funding is crucial to provide suitable equipment and staff to research for better forms of treatment and ultimately a cure; at present funded solely by charitable donations and grants.0 -

When J came to us he had been cared for in a London hospital, where he shared a room and rarely left his bed. Now J has his own room, and uses the lounges, therapy rooms, hydrotherapy pool and sensory garden whenever he wants. J is a wheelchair user and unable to communicate verbally but J’s disabilities do not stop him enjoying life. With support J goes bowling, shopping and to gigs. J’s doctor is amazed at the improvement in J’s health since he came to Martha Trust.
There is a shortage of places across UK for people with profound disabilities. Martha Trust is committed to helping more like J.

www.thepacecentre.org
This is a charity for children with cerebral palsy.
One in every 400 children in the UK is affected by cerebral palsy, my son being one of them. He is 10 years old now and has been supported by PACE for 8 years of his troubled life. The highly skilled staff teach children life skills, things that you and I take for granted! Even wiping away a tear (and there have been many!) is physically impossible for many!
I can honestly say that my son was virtually 'written off' at birth, but with PACE support he is now a very happy, well rounded little boy who loves his football and uses a computer to 'talk' and do his school work, he will even be sitting his GCSE's!
Please help! :A0 -
Charity: The National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease (NACC)
Web address: www.nacc.org.uk
Supports sufferers of Colitis and Crohns.
The National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease (NACC) brings together people of all ages who have Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn’s Disease, their families and the health professionals involved in their care. These two illnesses are both forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and they affect about 1 in 400 people in the United Kingdom. These are incurable diseases at the moment and require a lot of medication which is not subsidised by the government. It is not hereditary and cannot be 'caught'. Bad habits (smoking, drinking etc) do not cause it and neither does a bad diet or weight problems. They are lifelong diseases and can be very embarrassing to the sufferers. I should know this as I myself have had Crohns for 10 years now.
Thank you for reading. Any help is better than no help.
