Protect My Bubble - as per the title of the post.
  • As a homeowner, I was able to get effective cheaper mobile phone insurance by adding on personal possession cover to my home insurance for literally a few pence more. It covers an individual item up to £1500 which is more than any mobile phone Im aware of. Saved me and my husband £7.50 per month each i.e. £180 per year between us!
  • I have found that I have been paying monthly for mobile phone insurance for about the past 5 years! I don't recall taking out the insurance in the first place, but if I did, surely the company should asked me after a year whether I wanted to renew, not just continued to take the money! Does anyone have any experience of this happening?

Are you not paying for a gadget helpline as well by any cnance?

This is very typical especially when buying from CPW and their daugter companies:
    How to cancel Fonesure insurance?
Mobiles.co.uk How to cancel Insurance and Gadget support?
    Carphone warehouse insurance
Mobile Phone Insurance Scam (again) - Be warned
    ...
    ...
but if I did, surely the company should asked me after a year whether I wanted to renew, not just continued to take the money!
Why after a year? And generally, no, they don't have to ask.

Bank statements exist for customers to check them at least sometimes.
  • Folks
First time post but felt I had to warn you. Avoid Talk Cover at all costs.

I insured a phone in March and had the misfortune of making a claim at the end of June. Ive never claimed on insurance in 20 odd years. In the first instance the company hadnt set the debit up, despite taking the initial payment.
    That has now been sorted.
However I am still awaiting a call from them after being advised by their sales team that the claims dept were told to contact me on 1st and 7th July.

Given that I have £10 worth of telephone calls (premium rate contact number) to them already without any hint of how this matter is going to be resolved, I feel more than a little annoyed.
Therefore I shall be cancelling both policies I hold with them immediately.
    Absolutely appaling.

But what about the excess on your home insurance - unless there's a specific excess for mobiles/personal possesions, you'll usually pay the first £300 or so on any claim...!
  • I have bank of scotland ultimate reward account with phone insurance included. when my phone was damaged and i had to claim first they sent me a dead phone but I went on holiday without claiming and missed the deadline to be considered the same claim so i had to pay excess again. I paid it and they sent me another phone minus the charger, when i got the charger i discovered this phone was also dead! I sent it back and 2 weeks later, after repeated phone calls have now been told it's irreparable and they don't have any htc desires to replace it. They say I have to wait another 5 days for them to try and source one. I'm going to make a complaint although i'm not to used to this kind of thing so if anyone has advice or had a similar experience please let me know.
  • Hey guys,

    First time poster :money:!

Does anyone have any positive comments regarding mobile phone insurance? I have just got a Samsung Galaxy S2, and if I lost it I would pretty much loose £500~ (sim free)...

o2 are offering £10/month but can get 40% off that at many of the competitors that people have said give poor service etc on here... I'm looking for theft & loss...

    Any tips :D?

Also the higher renewal costs for having had a claim on a home insurance policy. I've never claimed on my home insurance but the likelihood of claiming for a phone would vastly increase the risk.

    Hi all,

Have any of you had any experience with purchasing a Squaretrade warranty from Amazon?

I've just got a Samsung Galaxy S2 and they're offering 3 years cover (including accidental, water damage and general breakdown) for £49 which seems a great buy.

Been looking for a little while now but all seem to have their negatives. There aren't many Squaretrade UK reviews but see that they are highly rated in the US.

Even the T&Cs seem fair - just wondering what the catch is! :rotfl:
