DD has just got a blackberry on contract and I was looking to insure for her as she is a student. I intend asking my home insurer later to see what they will charge to add on, but on googling found a site called blackberry insurance which quotes £2.49 a month, 1st month free or £27.39 for the year.

Has anyone got experience of this company good or bad? Or can anyone recommend any better.

    Thanks
  • I read all of this post a few months back

and i came to the conclusion that:

The reason i would buy insurance is for peace of mind

none of the companies really give this

    Am I getting this right?

    I have a Smasung Galaxy S £400 jobby in a sweet 2 year contract

    £30 p/ month
    500 text
    600 min
    100MMS
    DATA bolt on
F&F bolt on (everyone should get this)
phone £30 (contract price £30 worth abot £400)
    Vodafone 2 year

but voda said their insurance doesn't supply a new phone in the first 2 months of the contract.

and it appears a lot of these other providers are looking for any reason to never pay out.

    I'd like peace of mind

How can achieve this? Just put a bit of money aside each month?

I ask myself "what would Lewis do?" :) :money:
  • I signed up with CUSC mobile insurance on the basis that the price is comparable to other mobile insurance providers and MSE recommended. Big mistake!!

I bought my HTC Desire for £400 out of contract as I didn't like my contract phone.
3 weeks ago I dropped my HTC in the sink and it would only turn on to the blank screen, or keep restarting on its own. Since contacting CUSC to report this, it has taken a week for the phone to be sent off to repairs where it was deemed "fixed" by god knows who and then sent back to me. As soon as I turned it on I knew it wasn't fixed (the exact same problem!) and so had to pay for Special Delivery AGAIN to send it back to repair centre.

Today I received the phone again and it's still the same problem. How is it possible that it doesn't work in my hands yet works perfectly fine at repair centre. I can't believe how much longer this will have to drag on for. The £50 excess I paid and £11 special delivery charges (so far!) are nothing compared to the actual cost of the phone but it is not being fixed!! They do not offer a replacement or even mentioned that perhaps after sending the phone back and forth so many times would deem it un-fixable.

CUSC passes on the work to Fone Sure, who then passes on the repairs to Fone Clinic. Neither of these companies actually take responsibility and I'm having nightmares about trying to pin someone down who will actually send me a new phone. Avoid CUSC at all costs, and I think MSE should not have this company in the recommended section. Where does the "decent feedback" come from???
  • I use my bank account to cover my phone. £7 per month and the phone iscovered along with a few other useful things such as travel insurance.

if you call up the phones4u insurance and say you wanna cancel as you get it for £4.99 from the bank, they will match this!!

Does anyone have any experience of Vodafone doing a similar thing?

Hi all im looking for a iPhone4 insurance can anyone recommend a good company?
  • Ok I spent hours trying to find insurance. problem and solution as follows.

With tesco mobile for iphone 4, tesco do not do insurance.

Bank with first direct they only cover mobiles for £300 with an account costing £12 per month. So again not a great option when it costs £700 to replace an iphone 4.

I do not trust any of these small companies advertised and they all exclude simple things such as theft ina public place unless force is used. Far more pickpoocketing occurs than mugging. Or they only cover for £400 then have an excess of £100. As far as I could tell "protectyourbubble" and "cusc" (and their multiple associated affiliates) have so many exclusions it would be nigh on impossible to claim as have "insureandgo" I might add. T&C for all these is to be frank awful.

So the solution i ended up with though not perfect was Endsleigh - I rent with non family so only insurance company I could go with, I insured my belongings for a minimal amount £3k and added mobile insurance. Costs £25 then £10 per month for 11 months. Not ideal but better than the risk of laying out £700 for a new phone. Their t&c is reasonable and covers for loss and accidental damage.
  • I've just made a claim with CUSC for an iphone 3GS that was dropped. They couldn't repair or replace it so sent me a cheque for £449 all within a week.

I paid the £50 excess and £5.20 special delivery charge but I am very pleased with the service I have received.
