I bought the iphone 4 last week I think it was now, maybe 2 weeks ago now and I haven't got it insured yet.
I will be insured on it through the Halifax as soon as I ring up and give them the IMEI number etc (though I have to wait 15 days)..
.. anyways.. is it worth paying the £60 for the Apple Care ?
Halifax are currently repairing my broken Apple 3gs and it seems to have gone through OK, though I am not sure whether they are going to repair it or replace - either is fine with me. But they take over a week to do all of this and it seems like quite a bit of hassle.
For £60 I think it will be covered immediately - what is their care like?:cool:0 -
I am looking for some insurance for an i phone 4. Currently have the 1 month free cover from Vodafone, usual cost £13.50 i think and looking to see if can get it cheaper elsewhere?
I've looked at talk cover but they don't cover for loss.
Does anyone know of insurance that does cover for loss?0 -

Hi, my partner has been with orange on a contract for years. He renewed his contract with them in march, and was persuaded by the girl in store to take out phone insurance. Not being particulary good at keeping a phone without it getting scratched or damaged, he thought the insurance would be a good idea. It was no suprise then when he fell off his bike (sober i might add) and trashed his phone. Unfortunately it took him a couple of days to contact orange about his claim. This is when he was told in no uncertain terms, that because he took longer than 48 hours to claim his insurance is not valid. Instead they could offer a replacement phone for £70. 45 mins and several departments later, after he threatened to leave orange he was offered £50 off his bill as an incentive to buy a new phone. This won't go far towards a new phone but i supose it is a decent gesture of sorts. Has any one else had this problem?0

Phone them back and ask them for a "Final Response Letter" to confirm they are declining the claim and say that you "intend to take the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service as you are not happy with their decision".
It gets rather complicated, but in essence the insurers can only bring a clause like that into effect if they can show that the delay would in some way materially affect the claim. As the claim is for damage (and there was a good reason for the delay - injury) if you referred the case to the Financial Ombudsman, you would be likely to win.
The Financial Ombudsman Service is free for you to use, but the insurer as to pay £500 for each case that is referred to them by a consumer. The decision of the Ombudsman is binding on the insurer but not on you.In the beginning, the universe was created. I've got a 3Gs and would like to insure it. I'm on Vodafone but am looking for something a little cheaper than their £12.99/month insurance.
Has anyone insured with anyone else they would recommend? I'm sure the £5.99 ones online are dodgy!0 -
