OS Sunday 25th May 2008

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 25th May 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Guys!

I got home late last night but cant sleep. The consultants have a nurse coming in till Tuesday to monitor and to give some meds that have to be given by injection. My BP has been quite low all week and my bloodcount was 8.1 yesterday, so will probably need another infusion in the next 2 weeks.

Thank you all so much for the lovely card and well wishes. It was a true surprise and made me cry just to think I have so many great friends out there.

The operations went well but left me with a lot of pain. My face is swollen and bruised where they fixed the mess up (roots into sinus and couldnt close the whole from my tooth to sinus)they did late last year. I have about 10 stitches in my mouth as he cut down the left handside of my top gums which gave him a flap to work with underneath, then used my fat in my cheek to fill it in:confused: ....it feels weird and I have a nice bruise on my cheek and chin.

When the other surgeon went into to do the biopsy, he decided that it would be better to take the right ovary out as it was a solid mass and swollen, so am awaiting the results on that. He said it looked hopeful and the rest of the tube, other ovary and womb appeared ok. I am seeing him on the 4th June I think and he will know everything by then.

I was given huge doses of steroids which eased the pain, but they also were giving me super strong drugs which were brilliant. I had to have injections into my tummy each day which were nasty and these are being continued for the next few days. I am not allowed to be left alone really at all for the next 2-3 weeks.

The hospital staff were amazing. I was given my own room and bathroom and anyone coming in had to wear a mask as I was wide open for infection as they gave me some extra of the methotrexate I take which left me with no immune system. I also had to have blood tests every 6 hrs and you all know I hate them!

The operation has kicked off a massive flare so everything hurts, but I will try and chat when I can.

Thank you again for all your kind words.

Twink & BargainRzl....thanks so much for keeping my spirits up:D

Take care everyone

    Morning.

It's wet out there today which is good for the garden, but bad for the tourists down for the weekend. Shame! :rotfl:
I expect they will all be heading for ASDA or our the largest covered market in GB we have...

I was called last night to go to work today. I am quite happy about that as it's double time. I also get double tomorrow for the bank holiday, so I might treat myself ........ to some heating oil! . It's sure to be cheaper for the winter now rather than September.

My eggs are hatching today. I can hear them chirping and the shells starting to crack. Should be quite exciting.

The garden is still a mess fro, Friday's crash, but I think I will leave it and see if there is any insurance I can claim off first. I am unsure as to if the driver had any, so that's worrying. I could repair the damage myself, but why should I waste a week of my time. It would give me an excuse to get a mini digger for the week. I can think of uses for that other than the wall.....

    Well must get going. Cheers

Morning all. PENPIN - how fantastic it is that you are home but I'm so sorry you are still in pain; you've been through such a lot - I am full of admiration for you. I hope it's not too long before you start feeling a lot better. Meanwhile, take it easy, please.

SMOKY, MRS MIX and everyone else who needs lots of hugs and TLC - hope today is a good day for you all.

    CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:

I didn't have much time on here at all yesterday - we were busy during the day and went to a party from 4pm until quite late - I was 'Des' so didn't have too much to drink. Luckily the rain held off but it got quite cold - there was a massive barbecue which helped keep us warm. The birthday girl was genuinely surprised to find all her friends hiding in her kitchen when her DD brought her back from the hairdressers - it was very moving and we all had a fantastic time.

Well, DS1 and his family spent the night in a hotel near Stansted Airport and are due to fly out to Iceland today, with strict orders to text me when they arrive! We are seeing DS2 today or tomorrow because DH is going to help him hang a door; it'll give me a chance to catch up with his GF on their wedding plans!

I went to put my best most comfortable shoes on yesterday and the bottom came away from the upper - I was ridiculously annoyed by that but DH has come to the rescue with good old Evostik! He said 'buy a new pair' but I have loads of shoes so don't need any new ones (he couldn't believe I turned down the opportunity!) - I just wanted my best ones back!

When we went up to the chippie for our rare treat of a takeway on Friday, I noticed a new charity shop has opened at our local shops - I've never had one within walking distance so will be checking that one out on Tuesday! It's a 'Vitalise' one which helps the disabled and their carers so it's a great cause. My next door neighbour has Motor Neurone Disease and I know how hard it is for him and his lovely wife to cope with life on a daily basis. He often falls out of his chair and she used to ring the ambulance to help her lift him back but, as soon as we realised, we insisted that she phones us up when that happens; they have had to wait hours sometimes for the ambulance people to help which must be quite frightening. They are so grateful each time but it's nothing for us to do it and a lovely feeling to know we can give practical help.

Anyway, I'm waffling (as usual) so will go now and catch up with the rest of yesterday's thread.

    See you all later.

    Morning All

Went to some very old friends last night for tea and a catch up before we went away again. A new Netto has opened near our nearest Asda and they went in Yesterday to look at some baby stuff (they have a new granddaughter) and decided to do a small shop while there, so we had a roast beef dinner, with the beef, yorkshire puddings and profitteroles from there, they were fine. Yes I know the YP's were not OS, but the rest of the meal was, with 4 fresh veg+new pots, and a fresh fruit salad as an option for dessert. Daughter popped in with fiance and new baby, so that was nice to see them.
DS arrives early?? today, well he may make it before lunch me thinks. He is going to an old friend's 21st tonight, and then goes back tomorrow.
I got partially packed yesterday, so continuing that today together with sorting some paperwork out.

:grouphug:Glad to see you back Pen-Pin you must have nagged well to get out so soon, though there is nothing nicer than getting back home, and I know DH & DD will look after you.:grouphug:

:grouphug:Smoky How are you and the smokelets doing, I haven't seen a post from you for a while.:grouphug:

:grouphug:All those with stroppy kids, OH's (Big kids?), sighers, PINA ex oh's, feeling carp, :grouphug:

:hello: to all those feeling fine :hello:

    Morning all
Penpin, SO good to hear from you, am pleasd that your home. You will feel poorly for sometime but everyday is a day nearer to you getting back to normal health. Well done. :A

Didn't sleep well at all, have been worrying about next week, all the work that needs doing in the house before we can start decorating. Ofcourse being a B/H we can't get carpets priced up until Tuesday, same with the skip.
Wednesday I go for my pre-op assesment, I received 2 letters from the hosp yesterday, one of them said I would be given an appointment for the op on Wed as the Consultant has deemed it a priority.

I will sort out my tools and materials today ready to take down Monday, we will rip the carpets up, and start painting every surface in the house, what can't be painted needs a darned good scrubbing.
Can anyone suggest how to clean an oven that has caked on burnt food, hammer and chissel spring to mind!!

We are meeting a friend today as sadly he has come to the end of the road moneywise, I have been helping him through the insolvency stage, but the banks/visa's are not playing ball so he is applying to go to court for bankrupcy. I have the paperwork so we will fill that out and get it sent off registered on Tuesday.

Thursday DH has appts for eye test am and root canal work pm.

If I have time on Friday I shall book myself in for a breakdown. :rotfl:

Hope you all enjoy the B H.

Special hugs and thoughts to Smokey, Mrs Mix, JackiO (where are you) and anyone else I have forgotten.
    Catch up later. Beth x

Hi Beth - try not to worry about the ops - you desperately need them so just look forward to coming back home. I hope it doesn't take too long before the property your sister has left in such a mess is ready for renting out again but don't make the pain worse by trying to do it all before you go into hospital. How she could leave it like that knowing how bad your arms are defies belief.

All those with stroppy youngsters - some kids of the male variety never grow up; they just get married and sigh their neglected way through life! Donny-Gal knows what I mean!

Have just finished reading yesterday's thread; Pink-Winged - my DGS 8yo does not stop talking and asking questions until he has finally dropped off to sleep! His Mum and Dad find it so wearing but they can't say anything to him, can they? Not that it would stop him if they did! Both my boys were like it but DGS has turned it into an art form!

    No word from Martyn, yet?

Oh well, I've had a nice surf on here so I suppose I'd better go and get something useful done.

    See ya!

    Morning all

Sorry 9Neav, but it's a nice morning here, a bit cloudy, but certainly not the rain we were promised (yet)

PenPin, glad you are back home, hope you start to feel better soon, lots of (((hugs))) till then.

Well, we did a car boot yesterday, and just about made enough to pay for last nights Indian takeaway, but it was a day out in the fresh air, so not too bad. Think we might head off shortly to visit another car boot, but must try not to buy books :D

We are going out for dinner with DS, his fiancee and our lovely GD, so that will be nice.

Watched the end of Eurovision last night, but turned off in disgust before it finished, at that point we were last, and only one country had given us any points -I don't know why we bother, it's not about the song anymore (well, not for the UK).

Anyway, better get going, catch you all later x

    Morning one and all.

Call off the search parties, I'm still alive, and very well in case anyone was wondering. I didn't post yesterday as I was a bit down due to "mi Julie" going back up home. It feels like I've waited all my life to meet her and then we've been seperated twice in a couple of weeks

It was fantastic havng her (oo-err) down here and one result is that my freezer is now chock full of HM goodies such as chicken curry, pasta, Twink's hobnobs, banana cake and "glut", scones, and drizzle cake. If that lot doesn't help me get back to my fighting weight of 12 stone, I don't know what will :D Another result is that I've realised that I/we've been given the chance to be happy again. As I'm not 18 years old any more and don't know what's round the next corner, I've decided that as soon as I get myself sorted, I'm heading back up north for good to be with the dear girl and make the most of whatever life has in store for us. I've also had enough of this industry. 9 years of running round cleaning up after other people has worn me out so it's time to think about a career move. In an ironic way, moving to Dorset was a good thing because if I hadn't have done, all this might never have happened and we might never have met.

Sorry to "do a Moliere" :D but thanks to everyone for your support and nice comments. My thoughts and hugs to anyone who needs them.

    Man try :D

    HI martyn

We were considering sending down a search party :D Glad you had a good time, and it's nice to see you so positive about things, is this really the same person that only joined us 3 months ago ?

I think you are right about grabbing happiness when it comes, life is too short to miss out on things, so hope you get things sorted soon.

Just noticed your location, you really are happy, aren't you :D
