Anyone Into Cross Stitching?

The pheasant is from issue 62 of Cross Stitch Gold. It has a companion piece - a toucan - but I am not so keen on this so will not be stitching it.
I have taken on board people's comments re cards, and I think that after I've finished the one that I am doing for my Dad, and done a couple of others that I've already got planned, I will give doing cards a miss, except for really special occasion.
There are just so many other bigger pieces that I want to do for myself. I've fallen in love with John Clayton's flower panels - especially the daisies and the fuchsias - but am currently restraining myself.
What I really, really need is a second pair of scissors as the pair I have has to be moved from project box to project box as I work, and I'm always running the risk of leaving it in the box that I'm not taking with me!
So on Tuesday I am taking the day off and Mum is taking me to a new crafty place that she has found in Sandiacre, Nottingham and I am going to buy scissors. I won't promise only to buy scissors, but that's what I'm going for!
Regards,
Ro

Hi Mountain Ash, thanks for the info re the pheasant, its alway nice to know where designs come from! I'm with you on the John Clayton flower panels, I LOVE those and like you, I really like the fuschias! Ive just done the mini daisies for my Mum's birthday, and they were lovely to do! I posted a link to the photo a few posts ago! Enjoy your crafty day tomorrow - good luck with just buying scissors and nothing else - lol!
Yeah, like we've all heard that "I'm not buying anything" one before :rotfl:;)But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Hi folks,
Well, its been an odd day. I went out with Mum to the crafty place, only to find that really it specialised in card making and scrapbooking stuff. So all I bought was a packet of beading needles. No scissors even!
We went to another place Mum had been told about, only to find that it had closed down at the beginning of the month!
What I did end up buying was clothes. We took a friend of Mum's out for lunch and visited TKMaxx on the way back to hers. Result - one jacket for work and one coat!
I also acquired a second coat from a charity shop later on - Mum paid for this one.
The only really stitchy part of the day was Mum helping me choose threads to adapt a chart that I want to stitch for my sister's mother in law so that it will look OK in her lounge. But I still need another pair of scissors!
Hope you all had a good day.

Hi everyone!
Woo hoo! I've got my scissors - in fact, I got two pairs for 2p!:T:j
Mum belongs to a fabric place in Leicester, so she and I and a couple of her quilting group went this morning. I spent just over £30 on threads, aida, evenweave, bobbin winders and needle threaders. The scissors were in the voucher exchange bit, so Mum paid for them with her vouchers and I gave her 1p a pair - an old tradition about paying the giver for gifts with blades (esp. knives).
Unfortunately I forgot to take my list of threads to buy, but there was only a limited range available, so most of what I got were duplicates, but at 25p a skein, who cares? No such thing as too much stash, hey?
Well, must crack on - going out this morning has left me behind with the usual Sunday chores.
Cheers,

Has anyone used sewandso site and would you recommend them?
I ask because for 3 days now I have searching for the perfect size Elbesee frame and they are the only site I have found that has the size I want/need.
If they are reliable I will go ahead and order one.
Thanks:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
I have ordered from Sew and Sew several times. They are very reliable and quick to dispatch orders. I had one occasion when they sent me the wrong colour thread but I phoned them and the correct one was delivered the next day. They told me to keep the incorrect one too. Highly recommend them.0
