I did the stocking one for my mum for christmas and yes, those threads make it slow going. They look fab, though! My mum did the hat & mittens one for me. I still have it on the mantlepiece because it's too lovely to put away yet.

I did a Xmas Lizzie Kate design for my mum and framed it and it's still hanging in her kitchen ;)

I love those Christmas designs, makes me want to get on with mine. Also interested in the make of them please.

They are DMC because they use Light Effect threads. I got mine from Past Impressions before christmas, but I can't find them on there now. There are 6 different Christmas design cards, I believe. But be warned, they aren't easy to stitch with. It takes a lot longer and you need to use much shorter lengths or they get tangled or worn. But they do look very effective!

    Hiya

Yep, they are DMC mini kits with light effect threads...they all come with embelishments and there are 6 in the set
The stocking(with a snowflake), tree (with heart buttons), a snowman (with knitted scarf), bauble (with buttons), reindeer (with bell) and a hat n mittens(with pompom)
I got mine from johnsons crafts before xmas -all 6 for £10 :j -but I have just looked and they don't have them listed now...
They do take a little longer when you get to the light effect threads -but they are worth it... Im hoping to do quite a few variations using some of the loads of the threads from my file
I have started so early as Im working on some big pictures -so Im just popping these inbetween for a change:D

I finally planned and stitched the details on a baby sampler today. Been putting it off for months, so I'm glad it's finished now. Will post a photo when I've had chance to take one. She's 6 months old now, so it was about time I did it!

I'm not totally happy about the placing of the lettering, but that's just me being picky and there's no way I'm re-doing it! The lettering took me ALL DAY yesterday to do and it's not like I've got to look at it anyway....;) Pretty sure the wedding sampler I stitched for her (in 2005!) is still not hanging up...even though she chose it & says she loves it. She also chose this design, so at least I know it'll go well with the design of her nursery.

Edited to say sorry that I sound resentful! I don't mean to... :)

That is so cute ruth_honey :p

You don't sound resentful at all...its frustrating and annoying when you put a lot of thought, love and work into something and you don't see it hanging in pride of place ;)
I started a gorgeous somebunny to love birth sampler for my SIL who then picked a quick n easy one and did it herself..so I stopped doing mine and haven't finished it yet as I couldn't see the point..but I WILL get it finished as he is gorgeous...just not sure what to do with it when its finished:confused:

Im now very careful who I sew things for ..I did a huge blue dragon for my then 13 year old niece one xmas..she unwrapped it -left all her other pressies and insisted they go and hang it in pride of place in her bedroom -and its still there 4 years later :j
The victorian lady im doing for mum is a lot of work -but mum is a x-stitcher too so she really appretiates the work that goes into them :D

I've made a promise to myself only to stitch for people who I *know* will appreciate it. My mum does cross stitch too, so I stitch things for her. I have done wedding samplers and baby samplers for friends in the past, but I doubt I will from now on. I have SO much I want to do for myself.

I would never stitch anything for my Auntie as my mum stitched her something one christmas and although she said she loved it, she forgot to take it with her and it was ages before she actually remembered it and asked where it was! I don't think she has any idea how much work goes into it.

Do you have a picture of the blue dragon? I'd love to see it...

    Hi maria.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems. I had a kit from sewandso for a bookmark which was missing one colour and they sent it as soon as I rang them. I phoned after work and it arrived the following morning, less than 24 hours. Most companies accept that these things happen occasionally and are usually happy to sort it out rather than you take your custom elsewhere in the future.
Let us know how you get on.
