I've started stitching this for my mum's birthday...
I've changed the O in mom to a U.
I really love it and hope she will too. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

thanks xx
As far as I'm aware they are the same. I think the term floss also covers other stitching threads such as metallic, satin, silk etc.
Love your Mum stitching Maria!
I may have an advent chart or two in old magazines. Are you looking for anything in particular? I'll have a hunt. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

I will confess that I've started on the Bra kit already-just couldn't resist! I've done the heading and the first 2 bras (BRAssica and liBRA), and am now on the 3rd.
Took my Lizzie Kate Winter design (was supposed to be my Grandma's christmas present) to my cross stitch meet today, so got some more of that stitched, which is good because I need that finished, and then to stitch Summer to go with it for her birthday. Which is on Sunday:eek: -but I won't see her for a while, so I have some more time. Not enough hours in the day!!!
I subscribe to 3 stitching mags, but I really want to drop one or two. Just can't afford it, but I know I'll end up buying them in the shops if I end my subscription. Then I'll be spending £12 a month instead of about £8-9 sub rate, so I don't know... I have so many magazines here as it is, but I do like reading them. Especially the ones I'm in!
I know what you mean about cost of magazines! I subscribe to Cross Stitcher and World of Cross Stitching and did Cross Stitch Crazy but let that lapse but now buying it when I see a new one in the shopsAlso buy Cross Stitch Card Shop sometimes too. The World of Cross Stitching was a birthday present so don't feel so bad about that one. I love them dropping on the door mat and settling down with a cuppa and a read. I've been in a couple of them too and won prizes!

Me too! Always a shock when you're flicking through and suddenly see your face, or something you've stitched on the pages. I even had a full page article written about me years ago. Can't remember which mag now-'Crazy' or 'World Of...' I think it was. Am so tempted to carry on getting all 3 of my mags, but I can't afford it and there's only so much of the house I can fill with stitching stuff. What mags have you been in? Might be able to dig them out and see if I can spot you!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Hello
I have just found this thread and had to join in :j
I have been cross stitching since 1998 but over the last few years I have not done any! I tried other crafts, glass painting, card making, quilling, knitting and bought lots of materials (particularly for my card making) so I now have more than enough craft materials to sink a battle ship! Cross Stitch remains my true passion though.
I subscribe to Cross Stitcher Magazine and I am considering taking out a subscription to Cross Stitch Card Shop when the free gift is something I want.
When I first started Cross Stitching, I subscribed to all of the mags but let them lapse. Now when I buy them in the shops, I am shocked at how much they cost !
I was very lucky recently to pick up a huge collection of mags in my local charity shop ! Although available on ebay, they are still pricey
Cross Stitcher remains my favourite cross stitcher magazine, always lovely designs and the free gifts are lovely too - much better now than when I first started buying.
Im working on a tigger bookmark at the moment. Im just working on small designs at the minute as I want to perfect my cross stitch - getting the back as neat as possible.
After I have finished this design, Im not sure what I will do next as I have so much to choose from. I do have some big kits to do/finish including a wedding sampler for a friend (married Oct 07!) a birth sampler for a relative (baby december 08!), a kit my friend bought me xmas 08 which I love and a country companions design for my OH which I started in 98 !!! Im going to start the country companions kit again though because my stitching is very untidy (the back) and I know I will encounter problems when I add the back stitch etc so I am going to start afresh.
My favourite cross stitch is Winnie the Pooh, Country Companions and Margaret SherryAlso newton's law, tatty ted and cats

I was in Cross Stitcher many moons ago but no picture of me, just the tigger kit I stitched. I had the surprise of my life when I was sat on the bus reading the lastest issue only to turn the page and discover the tigger kit I had stitched!
As mentioned in my earlier post, I agree that the cross stitcher mags are very expensive. I only subscribe to Cross Stitcher (the best one in my opinion) but I am thinking of subscribing to some more. Its my birthday soon so I might ask for a subscription or two...... trouble is the best deal is always the direct debit deal (best free gift etc) but then you are tied in.....
My subscription to Cross Stitcher has carried on for years but I havent received any free gift each year (like a new subscriber would!!)
World of Cross Stitching went in with my food shop last week and therefore comes under my grocery budget!!0 -

My work has been in them but not me, hate having my pic taken!!! I did a Brittercup cat in Cross Stitcher last year I think (got bouquet of flowers), cross stitched coasters in World of Cross Stitching also last year (got large Country Companions kit) and a Bent Creek wedding sampler that appeared in Cross Sticher but no prize. The letters pages are the first ones I read, I am so nosy and love finding out what other people have been up to
Maria, will look through my magazine stash and see what advent calendars I can find x:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

Actually if you work out the cost per issue, it's not too bad paying in one go. For instance, the current price for one year subscription to Cross Stitch Crazy is £39.99. This is for 13 issues, so £3.08 an issue. Direct Debit is every 3 issues and cost £8.49, so that works out as £2.83 per issue. That's 25p an issue difference. Not that bad really. Worth it not to forget about the DD and have them take more money out. At least this way, when you re-sub (if you choose to), you get to have the free gift. And it's way cheaper than buying it in the shops. Oh darn...I'm talking myself into subscribing again...:rotfl:
I really wish you could subscribe using Tesco clubcard vouchers. Both DH bike magazines you can. Maybe we should email Tesco and suggest this??? I'll try and find out where you can contact them about suggesting new clubcard deals.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
