Hi all. Have been on holiday for a week so now catching up on threads
Mistyblue, thanks for the advice about the "Wild Menagerie" kit. I decided not to buy it in the end as it looks like a lot of hours and I know I'll get part way through and leave itBut I do appreciate the advice about fakes, cross stitch kits/charts aren't something that you would imagine someone faking so I wouldn't know the difference but now I know to be careful.

Is there a good way of storing threads? I'm flitting between projects (get bored too easily!!), and have lots of different threads but want something easy to use which will store the threads I've collected so far.
I thought that plastic wallets with square pockets in them would be good, with little labels, but I have no idea where to get those!Dooyoo £10.40/40, TopCashBack £17.19/30, Valued Opinions 50p/£10, Swagbucks 0/£20, Ebay £15/£250 -

When I saw Mrs M's fab storage method using those pockets I wanted to do the same but haven't had any luck finding the pockets either. Hobbycraft may sell them? Have looked on ebay and can't find anything. If I do I'll let you know! My threads are in bags in a right old tangle, really need to sort them out properly. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Nicolefury, found some wallets! They are for coins - do you think these would work?

Hi rainmac
I have just been trying to find the sleeves on line -but i can't find them eitherI got mine from home -in a little old shop that sold 2nd hand jewellery, coins, medals etc.. those that you have found might be ok, but you would probably have to fold the fuller skeins of thread in 3 to get them in..

Thanks for the advice Mrs M. I did wonder if the pockets may be too small as yours are 3 pockets across in the pic and these are 4. May order some and see how I get on? If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

Hi folks
Hope all you very knowledgable people can help me!! I have just got a christmas stocking to cross stitch for my little neices first christmas. Am a real novice (actually only ever done one small cross stich in my life!) and am feeling slightly intimidated at the moment but determined all the same!
Anyway, can anyone recommend somewhere I can buy a frame (you know the round ring thing that keeps the material taught, sorry dont know what its called!)
Also any other hints and tips will be greatly appreciated!
Linz xoxoxIts hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........
People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!0 -
Hi rainmac
Yes -mine are like those.. 9 pockets to a page -don't know how thick those ones are -mine are really thick and rigid so they don't flop about.. i guess if you wanted to save money you could slide a piece of card into each pocket -that way you can put 1 thread either side
Loopylinz
you will be fine.. the x stitch hoops should be available in any sewing, knitting shop etc..
Tips hmmm- Well if you can -photo copy the chart and work from the copy -and I use a highlighter pen to mark off the stitches as they are done -makes it much easier to see where you are
- Don't use to long a piece of thread as they are more likely to tangle

Hi Linz, welcome to the thread. The ring can be bought from Hobbycraft, do you have one near to you? Or ebay?
Good luck with the stocking, sounds like a challenge! If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0
