I love cross stitching and have been doing it for years now.

Must admit though that I'm finding it harder to see the holes as I get older! lol

I prefer working with Evenweave or linen though.

    Hi Rainmac

Not for Xmas, but I just ordered a wedding sampler for my friend who is getting married in November, hope I've got enough time! :D

    Hi girls.

Iv'e bought 2 kits off e-bay, one was a buy it now which cost just over £6 (including the p+p) and the other cost £3.50 (incl p+p) The first one is a sampler type with small housey pictures...roses around a door, some fruits, some flowers...that kinda thing. The second one is of 2 shelves in a kitchen with teapot, cups & saucers, platters etc on it.
Have also got my eye on another sampler type one and another kit which I'm not really sure what it is so have e-mailed the seller and she's sending me a decent pic.
Then I think I have to stop for awhile :D They will keep me going for quite some time. I will keep an eye out for bargains though :rotfl:

The cross stitch kits do seem really cheap on ebay - definately the place to buy them. I got two big kits for about £12 including postage. I bet if I'd got them in the shops they woud have been about £15 - £20 each. I can't wait for them to arrive so that I can make a start, I've just got to find my hoop now, I don't know where I have put it!

I found you have to really hunt for the good value kits but they are there if you know how to find them. I know in my mind how much I am willing to pay and won't go over that. The £6ish kit was a buy it now and the £3.50 kit I got lucky on, only bidder!

I've always been rather lucky with my cross stitch patterns. My sister is quite a talented artist and I have one of the pattern creator programmes that lets you make your own. All I have to do then is find a spare bit of aida/evenweave and get my thread box out.

That said, I have looked for patterns on eBay before, but have always been a bit daunted by bidding on them!

me too,I much prefer evenweave and linens.I have so much aida that has'nt been used I think I'll have to put it on e-bay.I can't remember how many times I've bought a kit for the chart and replaced the aida with an evenweave.
I'm like you too in that I'm finding it harder to see the holes, but I bought one of those round the neck magnifiers with a light on it and it's great.
Get some stick from my husband though.
