I actually lose interest in smaller projects but get on with big complicated ones much easier
That's exactly like me! I much prefer bigger ones

Hi girls.
Well, I now have 3 new kits that I'm raring to get started on but I have to finish my cottage miniature first, I only have sky left to do so about an hours work.
I was just wondering if any of you ever "modify" a project? I know we said about the french knots* and how I was thinking of using beads instead but now I mean more like adding or even removing stitches. (*more about french knots later)
With my cottage I changed it quite a bit but to look at it you wouldn't know unless you have the picture of what its meant to look like beside it.
For example, there is a patch of green and gold near the front door of the cottage that was meant to be whole X stitches in green then half stitches in green, and same for gold, half stitches then whole. Well I couldn't be bothered and have done the whole patch in whole stitches and I think it looks ok. Same with the sky, its all pale blue done in half stitches and whole....well I'm going to do it all in whole stitches
Also I have a Tigger bookmark kit that is nearly finished. I stitched Tigger exactly as was shown on the chart but now I am doing the black outline of him and there are white gaps where the edge of the stitch doesn't meet the outline.
I am in 2 minds as to either doing the outline as the chart shows then filling in gaps with half stitches or just doing my own outlineNot sure about that, will maybe do a bit of both and see what I think.
Now for french knotsWell, I decided to try a few in the cottage garden because one of the kits I got from e-bay has some instructions on how to do them. Oh my lord!! They came out hardly noticeable :rotfl:
So I done a google search this morning and the excellent video I saw was nothing like the instructions I copied from the chart. Now I know what to do I'll give them another go and if I fail again I'll give up and get some beads.
Oh and aswell as getting back into my stitching.....I'm back into doing jigsaw puzzles too. Hubby takes the michael but is glad something keeps me quiet of an evening :j:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Finished some coasters for my son's pre-school teachers as an end of year thank you. Going to add a mug, a flannel cupcake and a few chocs to each coaster. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0

What a lovely idea...the coasters for end of term teachers presents. My DD leaves junior school this month, I am now thinking of quickly getting one done for her teacher (along with my horse racing project AND a golfing project for a mate that I already have on the go). Just not enough hands:rotfl:£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0

Do you still need Madeira threads? I have some colours that I've hardly used. If you let me know what you need, I'll check my stash.

If anyone is looking for a largeish project for a child, have a look at this half price kit...

I think it's lovely but the size scares me  so I'm ordering a much smaller design:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

Oh my lord!! It is beautiful and I'm very tempted but its huge and has soooooo much detail! I wonder how long it would take......for me to complete it I'm thinking in terms of years :rotfl::heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. I was tempted to buy it - thought I could stitch individual letters for birthday cards and work up to stitching the whole thing :rotfl: I didn't buy it but did buy a Lizzie Kate chart that reads "Housework Never Killed Anyone But I'm Not Taking A Chance?" :rotfl::wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Hey Rainmac - I've got that kit!!!!! SIH bought it for my birthday, but I'm ashamed to say that I didn't finish it. Its not as hard as it looks if you just do a letter at a time. It was lovely though - really bright and cheery.0
