I'm having problems with Kaupthingedge. I filled in the online application for my mum, but the confirmation e-mail (which is meant to contain the sort code and account number) never arrived. It said that would be with us within 2 days.

My mum got a letter about 5 days later telling her she should have received the e-mail, which she hasn't. As it happens the letter also asks for a username, but I don't recall her being given a username or selecting one during the online application. This seems like a joke.

The 'username' or Login is the e-mail address with which you registered, at least it is for my KE savings account.

Same thing happened to me, I got temporary PW by post but not the username email. I phoned and was given username but when I tried to log-in I got 'your account has been disabled' and I had to phone back and was given another temorary password. Must say the Customer Service was very helpful in sorting things out but not a happy start to my K-E experience.

  • Opened an account with them this week and all went very smoothly - as seems to be the case with most posters.

Confirmation e-mail, followed by e-mail with account number and username and then letter with password.

Activated in no time and now just waiting for BACS transfer to reach account.

    Impressed - so far!

I've received the letter this morning with temp password but still no email with account details

Just tried to log in using my email as username, as suggested above, and it says invalid email. Hmmmm not impressed so far

Does anyone have a proper landline number for them please?

    Thanks! :)

Maybe they are much busier on a Saturday but I've been on hold for 10mins so far!!!

ETA: Just spoke to a lovely lady and got all the details I need now. She did say a small batch of emails didn't get sent out for some reason so that will be why a few of us have had this problem.

Let's hope this is the only glitch in operating this account!

Oh, I did ask about BACS transfers from other external accounts and she did say it was possible to do this but that they don't guarantee payment will be processed if it's not from your linked account, so it's at user's risk if they wish to proceed with this.

ETA 2: Oh dear this doesn't fill me with much confidence! Anyone else having problems logging on to the website or is it just me? :o

Keep getting "unknown error" message and "please try again later"

Their site currently has a message on the login page saying that's it's undergoing maintenance/upgrade. I'm happy for them to do that if it's making my web-experience+money safer....

Just logged in without a problem.

Chamelon it sounds like you still have issues with your username and password. Do you even get as far as the password screen?

I received my password letter today too and tried to log in to account, wherein it became obvious that like previous posts I have not had a letter with account info or a username to log in with. Although I had ten minutes on hold I spoke with a very helpful, english, young man who after security checks gave me all the info I needed to proceed. Not too shabby for a weekend I think, and he too explained that a batch of emails had not gone in time and had been overtaken by the password letters.

The only problem now is that Lloyds TSB will not let me transfer all the money I want to, so will have to fiddle about over several days shifting it. So annoying, and little wonder I am moving as should earn at least 50% more interest with the Kaupthing account. Hurrah! Thanks Martin!
