applied for a cap one card (not a basic one), and got a letter saying that as I still had a capone card they could not process my new application (old card was the basic one with a £200 limit I have had for about 6 years and not used in 3). the letter had an option to tick a box saying "please cancel my existing card and apply again", so I ticked that, since I never use the card.

did they really laugh at you ? thats a little harsh ! hmmm im at work so can't phone im not sure i want to now. Do they write to you even if you don't phone with the decison ?

Hubby got his Aqua card yesterday and he rang to activate it..................guy asked him " can I ask what protection you intent to use ? " :eek:

All I could hear hubby saying was " protection for what? " maybe they are giving out free condoms :rotfl:

Biy were they persistant......15 minutes trying to sell hubby different add ons, I was waiting on hubby telling them to stick the card lol Oh well done now.

Was curious as to how long it should be to get ur pin from flybe after gettin the card, got the card monday and no sign of the pin.

no they didnt really laugh at me i was joking!!!

i would give them a ring its worth knowing if you have been accepted, it only took a couple of minutes.
i have two defaults on my file which shouldnt be there and i am in process of getting them removed now, they did say i had been declined due to adverse info on my file so i will wait till its clear to try again.

I got my pin 3 or 4 days after the card :T

Hi guys,

Hope you can help. I had a Monument card which I took out in 2003. I maintained it and they upped my limit yearly until it reached £5k. Then I think it was about a year or so ago I received a letter stating that Barclaycard had taken over/bought out Monument and that my account would be transferred over to them. Barclaycard then sent me a Platinum Barclaycard, same credit limit, it was as if nothing had changed except the card design. I recently checked my credit file and it states that my Monument account is closed and a new file created for the Barclaycard card (same date as Monument account was closed).

My question is this, if Barclaycard bought out/took over Monument, how come after reading the past few pages of this thread some people have applied for/still have cards with Monument?

And secondly, does this mean I could re-apply for a new Monument card since my old card account was transferred/cancelled?

Well guys I got a nice rejection letter from Amex today but thegood news was that the Airmiles Duo that I applied for(to be honest expected to be laughed at)with Lloyds got accepted £1k limit with 6months 0% on BT and I get to collect airmiles :j
