Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to appeal against a recent decision to reject me for the Classic Visa credit card that I had applied for, I will be as brief as I can in describing my situation to you.
I have recently been unfortunate to have suffered the loss of my partner and consequently fell in arrears with some of my creditors resulting in a CCJ and defaulted account, I have been taking positive action against these issues and as a result have now paid in full the monies owed to the companies concerned, therefore it is now my mission to recover my credit rating and hence applied for one of your products on recommendation from friends who were in similar situations financially. I would like to ask you to please reconsider my application and take in to account the enclosed evidence that I have satisfied my CCJ and defaulted account and would be ever so grateful if capital One could help me get back my credit rating, I class my self as responsible person financially and I am not looking for huge amounts of credit, I just want the opportunity to prove to Banks/lenders that I am a responsible person and can manage my finances properly.
Thank you for taking your time to read this letter and I would hope that I could become a customer of capital one very soon.
Kind Regards
Signed

Do you know what they refer to their customers as ? High risk.
Maybe you should have called your thread the "High Risk Customer Club" instead ?
They call their customers "high risk" because that's exactly what they are and they're out to make money out of you. It's not an APR of around 30% for nothing.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. If that is the type of person that they are then there is no hope, but most people have been unfortunate and just want to start again.
Plenty manage to get credit they shouldn't and it's a shame lenders aren't tougher on those who default.
People are allowed to just get away with it.0 -
as you can see (my signature) and as mr p knows i went through a bad patch a few years back through no fault of my own i have paid off the debt and i cant get jack 27 and i feel like a school boy i dont think this is fair as i dont usually operate this way so for me these guys would be awesome if they were to give me a line of credit to improve for my futureyou cant change yesterdaybut you can make tomorrow better0

That is judgmental without knowing the facts, that is why Capital One etc judge every application individually, they can tell who will pay and who will not, if you have a track record of constantly bumping people then I am sure they will find out, but if you got into difficulty a few times in the past then they may give you a second chance.
I doubt that very much.
I don't think they check things out very much at all. Someone else on here said they lied about the length of time at a previous address to increase their chances of getting a card and it worked.
I don't think the systems used by lenders are as sophisticated as you think.0 -
