    lol.

I have one with a kitten on, although as soon as my statement comes through I am closing down the account.

Sygma use equifax to check, PAULUK08 :)

I done two balance transfers on the Flybe card on the 13th September, they are still not showing on my vanquis or aqua accounts, so prepare to give them the maximum time before crediting the money... Even though my statement with flybe shows the transfers on it!

Just a quick update on my situation guys...

Last year I had 4 defaults and a CCJ, got them all removed but could never get accepted for anything including Cap One/Vanquis/Aqua .. not even an upgrade to a proper Natwest current account.

Finally got everything removed from my credit file at the beginning of this year and was accepted for a Vanquis with £250 limit in April, was accepted for a Cap One with £200 limit in July, MBNA £500 (£100 deposit) there in August and also a decent Lloyds TSB current account too.

Then, on the 5th of September I applied for the FlyBe card everyone was talking about.. got the usual email "we will contact you within 10 days" and heard nothing.
I just called them and they said we can see your application however it seems "stuck?" let me pop you on hold and I'll get my manager to look at it. 2 mins later the guy came on and said I had been accepted with £1000 credit limit and 17.9% APR, was some issue with my flat number on the initial application and to save me another credit search LOL apparently his manager "hit the override button"

    Credit agreement's on it's way!

I'll be transferring my Cap One & Vanquis straight on to that because it's 0% on BT's for 6 months too!!!

    FANTASTIC! :D

(this is with 40 previous searches in the last 6 months too!!!!)

Finally, finally I don't feel like a complete leper anymore, although Aqua STILL wont touch me?? Not that i'd have an Aqua card now anyway to be honest!

    Hi guys,

I'm new to this site and 'club'

    what does this mean?

    MBNA £500 (£100 deposit)

do you have to pay upfront?

well got my Vanquis card ( still think I am going to just cancel it ) and got my pin for Aquacard.

ummmmmmmmm pity I do not need to buy anything lol

Although I do like the fact the Vanquis card does not say " Vanquis" on the front very sexy blue card

  • Hi guys,

This seems like the best place for advice if you're in my situation...

I don't want to apply for credit cards that are out of my league... so how do I know who would accept someone with a less than lovely credit history?

Is there anything obvious to look out for? APR, promotions etc?

    thanks

    hi dave,
some of us were lucky enough to get offered the card without having to pay the £100 deposit, if youre offered it with the deposit, then you get it back after 5/6 months, as long as youre keeping your account in order by not going over the limit, and by paying on time - some of us also got offered 19% deals and some had 29.9% deals, not sure why but again i think its down to what our credit files are showing. good luck if you decide to apply

Hello just had an idea maybe we should have a central thread for discussing the pros and con's and any other related info on the following sub-prime credit cards:

    Addendum;
We have changed the name from the "Sub Prime Credit Card Club" to "The Sub Prime Credit Market Thread" as the range of products discussed on here is much broader than just credit cards.

    Capital One Visa
    cap1visa.jpg

    Monument Visa

    Vanquis Visa

    Aqua MasterCard

    MBNA Sub Prime Mastercard

Cash Plus Pre-Paid Master Card with £50 loan

    Barclaycard Visa

    Lloyds TSB Basic Bank Account

So, here we go then, I got this idea from ICE aka ComputerWoman from the Budgeting and Current Accounts Forum where she started a similar club for Citi Bank, so I am not ripping off your idea ICE if you are reading this but just think it is a good thing to do since their are a few of us around with less than perfect credit or no credit ratings at all.

these are some of the cards that some of us have managed to get. flybe is another card that ppl are managing to get as well, be careful not to apply to too many cards at any one time tho, as each search takes points off your credit score x
